McCain's money Net Worth: $40.4 million
Where he got it
This information was published in Money Magazine
McCain wouldn't exactly be poor were he on his own. As a senator he earns $165,200 a year, and he has a $54,000 Navy pension. And then there's publishing.
"Faith of My Fathers," his autobiography, was on bestseller lists for 24 weeks in 1999.
Since then he has produced about a book a year, recently "Hard Call," about good decisions and how historic figures made them.
In 2006 he took in about $225,000 in royalties, but over the years, income from books has totaled about $1.7 million, all of which he has donated to charity.
He can afford to be generous. His wife Cindy is the chairman of Hensley & Co., the Anheuser-Busch beer distribution business she inherited from her father. As an only child, Cindy is in charge of the family trusts.
Although she only has to report that she has a salary of $1,000 or more, her income from investments in 2006 came to about $3.7 million.
Where it goes
Except for checking accounts, all the McCain assets are in Cindy's name or those of their dependent children. Nearly $5 million sits in two generation-skipping trusts.
She receives the income, but the principal passes to her heirs. One holds mostly J.P. Morgan mutual funds and Anheuser-Busch stock, while a second trust has only Arizona municipal bonds.
Other trusts that benefit Cindy contain a variety of stocks, bonds and mutual funds. She also owns shares in two large medical buildings in Phoenix, a guesthouse near the couple's home in Sedona and an investment property in Coronado Beach, Calif.
Another $6 million in J.P. Morgan funds is held in the name of their four children.
How he could do better
In the Navy, McCain no doubt learned to keep things tidy, and the couple's finances are shipshape. They - and Cindy's father - "have clearly given a great deal of thought to their
estate," says Christopher Cordaro, wealth manager at RegentAtlantic Capital.
Cordaro has just one worry: "Everything except $50,000 is in her name or in trust for her and the children," he says. "I'd advise the senator to keep Cindy very happy - or have a good prenuptial agreement."

Look at that money!
Is McCain supporting any of them?
"baa baa baa baa
Oh, White God in Heaven, help us, before the Blackies get us!
We're scared."
And along comes McCain riding in on a White horse --
happy music playing in the background.
Of course, they would rather have had John Wayne.
But John Wayne is dead.
"Birth of a Nation".
No wonder it is still being aired.
"There are millions of people around this world praying to their God, whether it's Hindu, Buddha, Allah, that his opponent [McCain's opponent, meaning Obama] wins, for a variety of reasons. And lord I pray that you would guard your own reputation, because they're going to think that their God is bigger than you, if that happens.
No comment. None whatsoever. Except for this: was Buddha a god. Is Hindu a god, or a religion???
Yeah, okay. McCain/Palin '08 alright. Sure you're right.
Can anyone explain why Cindy stays with him?
Here is the point: people have been harping on Obama, and his church affiliations. Look, just LOOK at that . . .you cannot EVEN call that a prayer, Sandy!!!
I don't know WHAT it is!
Yet, people will sit up in ice box cold churches, and listen to this crap for 20, 30, 40 50 years, and then turn around and have the
NERVE
to criticize Obama!!!
If I could,
I would slap their wig off.
How could anyone who makes less relate to Cindy or John? Easy.... Abortion, Gay Marriage and Guns. Throw in a bit of Flag waving patriotism and you've got it.
As I said, it is ELITISM.
I agree that this is not a prayer by my standards, Nalita, but neither are most of the prayers I hear (at Democratic political functions, at the start of the day in congress or the senate . . .) I don't think any of it has any place in politics, or any public function. Prayer should be private and personal.
But, I agree with you that it takes some nerve to criticize Obama, who has made it perfectly clear that he does not expect anyone else to share his beliefs, that he will keep them out of his politics, and that this bushit prayer is far beneath anything he represents.
Say what?
2001.
Now, why does that year ring a bell?
It's because that is the year that Bush was sworn in as President, that's what.
That is when these financiers started all this subprime lending, cheating, stealing -- all of it.
I know it was not going on when I bought mine. That's why it is all so foreign to me.
It's scary to think that anyone would sit through that as a prayer. I've said before that there were times when I have gotten up and walked out of churches. Well, something like THAT?
I would have been out of the door, IMMEDIATELY!!!
If there is one thing I'll credit McCain with? I shall never respect him again. He has definitely made a name for himself, and left quite a legacy -- much of it due to Sarah Palin.
This is the poorest ran, slimiest campaign I have ever seen. Some of his advisors are telling him to fire some of his people. I can not judge that; it might be too late. I just believe that this surely isn't the Reagan way, and McCain/Palin are unworthy of any respect -- none at all.
McCain/Palin? No way. They are slimy. Snakes.
I do, simply because I believe Reagan was like the Bushes - a puppet for the party. I believe anyone who runs on the Republican ticket, at any level, will do what the party wants. Pay close attention to your local and state races - aren't they using the same wording, the same slogans, the same everything, even if not quite so strong as what McCain is using? They are here, and I've watched a number of debates in other states and seen ads from other states - they all look the same.
I know you are correct. However, they are the very ones who need to keep quiet about Obama. They are quick to judge, but have dust on their Bibles an inch thick from not reading it -- it simply sits on the coffee table for decoration.
They need to remember about judging.
My mom had a word about them:
They're going to bust the bottom out.
(What she meant was that they were going to burst the bottom out of Hell with their "tradition", and heartless ways, because Jesus wasn't going to accept that.)
Sadly, he probably believes that Jehovah really heard that prayer. God does NOT hear anti-prayers like that. He wasted his time.
Good night.
Apparently so do some of you gals....
I love the double standard :)
Obama/Biden 2008
Its my view that if we spend so much time before the election trashing either candidate it will be very difficult for the winner to unify this country and it citizens to do the job that needs to be done to get this country back on the right track. We all must me very careful not to alienate the very people we will need to get this job done right. Now is not the time for trash talk. If you object to the negative campaigning from either candidate dont engage in it yourself. Its going to come back to haunt us.
If you say now is not the time for trash talk (and I agree with you) you might want to address more people in this thread who are more guilty of trash talk than either Janet or myself.
That is why I, even though I'm very vocal about politics offline, haven't been such on here because of the attacks. Some people on here live to insult others, doesn't matter what view it is, if it conflicts their own that person is automatically an idiot and uneducated.
I never understood, how some people think insulting the other side will make them change their vote or work with them if their candidate is elected.
I sent you the article on McCain from "Rolling Stone" Magazine. I take it that you read it?
Apparently so do some of you gals....
Janet "Jax" B., Oct 14, 2008, 4:24am EDT
If you are referring to me?
My name is posted below, and it is NOT "gal".
I stand behind everything I said, and by YOUR own words,
JOIN THE JUDGING CLUB.
I emphasized "President" Ronald Reagan, because McCain shall NEVER be President. All of this evil is for nought.
Karl Rove has denounced the McCain/Palin campaign tactics,
as have other Republican/GOP consultants and insiders.
You bring your butt on this thread whining about your loser candidate, and what Obama supporters do and say . . .
Go whine to the Republican leaders about THEIR dissatisfaction with this McCain/Palin campaign of hate/lies/deception.
Your words -- and anyone else who defends this evil -- fall on deaf ears here, and they do on the majority of the SENSIBLE, LOGICAL-THINKING American Citizenry.
The stats below have proven it. Obama is moving up . . .because of the hatred being spewed, I suspect . . .
Obama.......50
McCain.......43
Undecided...7
So, go on. Go on with the hatred, and the empty prayers.
Copy the prayer above if you like. Use it. I guarantee that God won't hear that . . .that . . .whatever it is.
Later, Carol.
I have no time for these "pots and pans" . . .whatever.
I hardly see how 'gals' could be offensive. When you address a group of people do you refer to everyone by name? Or do you use a pronoun such as "you guys, you gals, everyone, ladies, gentleman, gals, gents, brothers, sisters, friends, amigos, ya'all" and so on.
I personally find it offensive you could equate Janet or myself as inanimate objects how dare you! *puts her nose up in the air and stomps off to take her toys to another sand box". (that was humor people. . . come on).
Carol as long as some people have chips on their shoulders the whining and name calling is never going to stop.
Do you see how childish you are being?
I commend you Carol for presenting facts about each candidate without being partial, and giving each one equal time.
I said it once and I'll say it again, I'll be darned glad when this dog and pony show is over.
I am impersonal when it comes to publishing tools to help voters sort through the tons of misinformation out there. Its very easy to do a search on a topic and want to just look at something that agrees with your views. The hard part for me has been to seek the most non partisan sites I can find and it is tough as I do support Obama. But this information is not just for me but all of you as well. They are part of a tool kit needed to become an educated responsible voter and that goes for either candidate or a third party candidate.
the information is out there the truth is as well. The question is how bad do we want it?\
3 weeks from today Heather and we can all get together for a virtual buzz of whatever kind you like. We will chill a bit before buckling down for the tasks at hand
I and many white people who do not like Obama are not racists. Actually I am not an entirely white person, I have native blood. I am very proud of my ancestors who were Tsa la gi (Cherokee) and Lenape (Delaware). They were slaughtered by Europeans, by weapons and disease. Their homes burned and their lands stolen. Pushed into foreign and hostile territories away from the ecosystems their society were based on. Screwed over by the Government by countless false treaties. And to add insult to injury Native People were the last group of Americans to gain the right to vote. Non Native people were granted the right to vote before the native people of this country.
Do you see me, as a person with Native Blood crying because there is no Native Candidate running? Or specifically do you see me getting all offended because white people and black people aren't upset because a 'red' person did not get chosen by either party?
No because what was done in the past is the past. We cannot keep holding the descendants of whatever people did our ancestors wrong responsible for the actions of their ancestors. It is not fair. It is beyond evolved behavior.
We're all pink and squishy inside and when we die we all return to dust (baring chemical preservatives. .. but that's neither here nor there).
My point is I and others, don't dislike Obama because is is Black. I don't dislike McCain because he is white. Sure some people probably hate both men for the color of their skin, and just as many people are voting for the other guy because of his skin.
But this constant degrading superior attitude so many die-hards on both sides have. .. is not going to do either side a service. They're just fanning the flames.
