Making Money for the Holidays

I so would love to have the time to really get into making some crafts. I make it a point to at least get together with my girlfriends and bake cookies. Then we split all the cookies and have a fun day baking with my friends.

I don't know but I really need some ideas, not only do I have christmas, but my daughters wedding as well.

My mom and I will be selling out 'wares' at a Christmas craft fair. My aunt has done it for several years, she does pottery, namely beautiful angels, and has done very well in the past. So, *cross my fingers* I hope we do as well. In the past we have either given our crafts as gifts or sold then to co-workers, nothing big.

I don't so much make things to make more money, but I do create things to SAVE money at the holidays...I love to make homemade gifts...

We typically make one type of project to give to most everyone. Last year my husband hand carved the tops to wine bottle stoppers. It was a big hit. We've been doing this for years and it is always a challenge to come up with the gift for the year. We didn't do this one year and everyone was disappointed. For some reason it didn't feel like Christmas.

We haven't decided on "the" gift this year. I guess we'd best get thinking!

I sell twice a year. As I change clothing over from summer to winter I go through what I know they will be able to wear next spring. Everything else I put into piles. Play clothes to give away, and then good clothes to sell. I also go through my kids toys and sell what they have out grown. I then go through the house and figure out what I just need to get rid of. What I haven't used in the last year and sell..
I tend to use www.Craigslist.org to sell. I could sell on ebay but I hate their fees. and I truly hate those that don't' pay for what they won...
I make close to $300 a year doing this which in return gets spent on my 3 kids at Christmas :)

Oh yeah I used to (prior to children) buy Christmas ornaments that are clear and have a removable top and put potpourri into them and sell them and or give them as gifts for the holidays to my neighbors :) $3.00 an ornament :)

I love doing crafts and stuff, and wish I had a way to do what you are asking about.

I have an ETSY account, and have put a few things up on that. But otherwise, I am trying to get signed up with all the survey and money making websites I can to help earn extra $$

I never have sold crafts but I have several dolls that I sold at work for my sister. They sold really well. If you work, take the items in to your co-workers. You might be surprised.

I am thinking to make some cragts, but not really sell them but give them to someoen as a gift.

I sold painted jeans on ebay - I made good money but it was a lot of work!

I wish I could help you Jill, but all I do is the online money, this is working great for me.

I used to bake cheesecakes and sell them for the holidays. I couldn't find the time to do that now if I had to!!

Sorry, Jill, I only do surveys online to earn abit of extra cash.

I thought about it, because I liked crafting and stuff... But I never did. I am just way too busy with a full time job. Now I have a baby, it's even more impossible.

I don't mess with it much in more, mainly because I'm lazy, but I used to always make fire starter baskets to both sell and give as gifts. I got the ideal from a Trash to Treasures book, and was able to make big beautiful baskets for about $4 each and then sell them for $35!

I went to a Crafts fair yesterday held at a high school in a small community. There were 50+ vendors and a lot of money changing hands. Some of the vendors were even accepting credit cards for payments. Items sold include scented candles, wallets, wood working crafts, quilts, many Christmas decorations and more.
