So, I'm new to this whole idea of staying home. I worked as an insurance agent until May when I sold my business to stay at home with my son (who's 2 1/2 years old). He needed some one on one attention and has since DRAMATICALLY changed. His language skills have greatly increased. He added about 500 words to his vocabulary in just the first month or so. He's much better behaved and we actually call him our "politeness bear" because he constantly says please, thank you, and you're welcome.
Now that I'm home full-time, I really think I have LESS free time than when I was working 80+ hours per week.
So, here's a breakdown of my typical day:
8am~Wake up and get breakfast (usually cereal for my son and oatmeal for me...we get fancier on the weekends)
8am-9am Watch educational cartoons with my son (he's not allowed to watch by himself...so we watch together). I don't want to use the TV as a babysitter, so we watch together so he'll learn more and I can quiz him.
9am-9:30am We get dressed and ready to go for a walk
9:30am-10:30am Walk around the neighborhood. I get exercise, and he gets fresh air which helps him take a longer and more restfull nap.
10:30am-11:30am playtime/reading time with my son
11:30am-12 noon prepare lunch
12noon-12:30pm lunch time
12:30pm-1:00pm getting ready for nap time
1:00pm-4:00pm Nap Time for my son. This is my time. This is when I do dishes, clean the bathroom, mop the floor, etc. If I don't feel like cleaning, then I'll try to get in at least 45 minutes of a workout in this time, either on my elliptical, with an exercise DVD or doing pilates. Once I'm done with everything I need to do, then I'll spend some time on Gather, or checking email, doing surveys, etc.
4:00pm-4:30pm Snack time. After my son wakes up from his nap, he gets a small snack. Usually it's graham crackers or fruit and milk. Just something to tide him over until dinner.
4:30pm-5:00pm This is story time/play time with my son. This is when we wait for daddy to come home so we can make dinner.
5:00pm-6:00pm. Somewhere in here is when my husband usually comes home from work. When he comes home from work, the two of them go take a shower while I make dinner.
6:00pm-7:00pm dinner time
7:00pm-7:30pm Shower for mommy
7:30pm-10:00pm Family time. This is when we watch TV as a family, or play board games, etc.
10:00pm both hubby and son are usually asleep. From here on out is when I get to spend some more time online or make hubby's lunch for tomorrow. I usually end up in bed around 1:00am
So, how does this compare to your typical day?

I'd like to create a cleaning schedule. That's my next goal. I'd like to set something up like Monday's =Vaccuuming, mopping, dishes, Tuesdays=laundry, dusting, windows, etc. I think something like that would be really helpful. I just haven't gotten around to it.
Finding the right schedule that works for you is important, and keeps things well balanced.
