Poll~Who handles the finances??

In your family? Who handles the finances? Is it the man or the woman?

I handle all of our finances. My husband is completely oblivious! He has no idea what it takes to run a household. Has no clue how hard I work to keep the finances in check. He is truly lost!

I wish he were more involved just so he could appreciate how much work it takes to pay the bills, balance the checkbook, create a budget, plan for unexpected bills and expenses, etc. Maybe then, he wouldn't be going through the drive thru for an $8 meal when I packed him a perfectly good lunch. UGHH!!

So, my question is...who handles the finances in your family and do you like it that way?

When I was married I handled the finances.I liked it that way, it didnt matter though.

Finances BORE me. Hubby likes to pay the bills. When it comes to important financial matters, though, it's 50/50.

Me but I wish it wasn't anymore. Hubby is wayyy more frugal but if we could find more of a balance and let him do it, it would take alot of pressure off of me right now. Especially because right now I have 7 bank accounts to keep track of. Some of those are also my moms since I have taken on the responsibility of taking care of her finances since her stroke.

We all handles our finances... but they do much of the expenses at home...
My Mom is getting older and Dad is having his time in the stock market. If I hit big time if I'll share more but for the time. I am planning to have an e-commerce site which is easy... maybe it could help and sure it will...

I have always wished I had a husband that would be responsible enough to handle them. But since I have been a single parent, I have had to handle them. Now, with my medical problems my daughter does mostly, but we discuss things as a family group, not one over another. My daughter is better at making value decisions, but my son does better on making a straight price vs price descision)
Josh can't even tell you a ball park figure on what he brings home. He is shocked every year at tax time! He has no clue what we owe on or how much we have going out. This is my security blanket to ensure he doesn't off me for the life insurance money! lmao Control freak that I am, I like things this way! lol

My husband, I used to do it but he does a better job as I am terrible with math. The good thing was I always balanced check book to where it was in our favor and we had more than I thought rather than overdrafts

My husband always left all the finances up to me. I think most women get to do that job. I think if I had passed away first, my husband would have had no idea what to do about all the red tape that occurs then. Of course you don't chose who goes first. He always said I should handle it because he thought I would do a
better job. So far so good. He was retired 20 years ago today, an I have been retired a bit over 18 years and we are still okay, (well I am).. Money problems are the main cause of divorce still, and I think if the day you are married or before you decide who will take care of what in that area, you are making a wise decision, because it is a matter that is important, and who wants to spend all your time discussing every penny in life. I think all of us when it comes down to very important items, such as cars, homes, and annuities and things like that share that together.

My wife handles all the finances and I love it. It has been like this since we were married 26 years ago. I am very allergic to check books and balancing a check book will never happen on my watch. My wife is more detail oriented and I thank God for her. I am the hunter in the family. I also completely TRUST HER.

I do since I live alone. I do not mind doing it. Even if I shared financial resources I would want to be involved in handling them. It is nice to know where the money is going.

We take turns. When I do we stay in the black. When he does we wander into the red but have a decent savings. I don't know which is better so I just assume i was created to be a control freak for a reason and say my way is better. HA!

I handle it in ours, but I keep him abreast to the balance, so he knows how "broke" we are! LOL! He has no clue what is due when, but is fine so long as he knows we have food to eat and all bills are paid.

No they don't, Joe, some do, some don't...same with men. Hopefully, the better money handlers male or female in a relationship will carry the day or it's to the poor house.

He handles everything and I think that it will stay that way. We talk about big stuff and investments, but the day to day, I leave up to him.

I handle all of the stuff for my family trust and that is enough for me.

My husband mostly. Big decisions jointly. He makes me feel secure, I completly trust him with the finances. He is very intelligent.
