My kids are enrolled in the Summer reading program at our local library, and for completing so many hours of reading they got free movie passes to a theater in a near by town. So we decided to go and see a movie today. The theater is in a down town area. I saw a restaurant there that I have heard of before and we had an hour to kill before the movie and we were all starving. So I said lets go have lunch in there.
The restaurant was a French Crepe restaurant. The food was definately not cheap. After we got our main meal crepes we were all still hungery, so we got a couple of dessert crepes to share, which cost $6.00 each, on top of the mean crepes which were about 8 to 9 dollars each. It would have been OK, I guess, but not even the soda refills were free, and we walked out of there still hungery. With tip the meal which was lunch not dinner cost us $72.00 that was incredibly expensive for a lunch, and to still be hungery afterwards. One of the desserts we had was a Nutella crepe, it had a small amount of Nutella in it, a few pieces of some kind of nut, and some powdered sugar. This thing probably cost them less than .50.
Everything tasted really good, but I did not feel like I had gotten $72.00 worth of food, for that kind of money I want them to roll me out of the restaurant, not walk out feeling like I need to eat something still.
Anyways, I have decided that I am going to make crepes at home, and make as much as I want. I made crepes when I was in advanced cooking in high school but it has been many years, I don't have a crepe pan, if anyone has any crepe making advice without a crepe pan please let me know.
Thank you for letting me rant. I am really broke now and upset that I spent that kind of money, I need to do lots of Gathering so I can make it up.

Adalaide: Yeah, I will open one with you. I swear they have a hube mark up there, for 8 or 9 dollars you got the crepe, 3 pieces of ham, 2 pieces of swiss cheese, and a sauce, they also gave you a small salad, and I mean small like 3 bites worth. The whole meal can't cost them more than $2.00 to make, and we got the cheapest ones they had there.
That's pretty sad about the crepes though. My mom used to make 20 for all of us and I'd get full after 6 sugar-coated or 5 nutella filled. I'm a light eater who gets full beyond my limit from an order of chicken tenders from most restaurants though if that helps you out in any =/.
next time, try something like a buffet or Burger king... hehe
I have never attemped making Crepes.
Sounds good.
please forgive the generic comment as time is of the essence for you.
I have nothing for crepes, but I have seen them done on a fry pan rather than a crepe pan.
So how was the movie?
As soon as I saw the menu I would have walked out of the restaurant and went somewhere else. No matter if I missed part of the movie or not.
I am very sorry for your bad experience.
I didn't make it in time to help you with your points in June. (Here's for July, though.) (This is a comment link for A Stone's Throw Away. It was written for you're entertainment. Don't click this link until you're in the mood to be entertained.)
