I'm so sorry. You are so right that God is your strength. He has a plan. We do not know what it is right now, but don't give up hope.

I will pray for you and your nephew. I have done things which have grieved my family too but they stuck with me. There was never a time when I didn't feel like I could go home and be welcomed back. Be there for him but don't be afraid to tell him how you feel. Lord keep him safe.

Carolyn, I am so sorry to hear what you and your family have to go through. Your nephew is young, and I agree with Mark. I hope your nephew will one day find comfort in knowing that he has a family that loves him.

When you have recovered to some degree from your natural depression I would like to suggest that you read my novel "Invisible Hand". I don't offer this as a way to feel better about your nephew's behavior or situation. I have some idea of what you are suffering because of the behavior of my own son. But I do offer it as a partial explanation for what your nephew has done and to give you the hope that one day people like your nephew will be given a different situation, a different context in which they are not even tempted to steal.

I have published the complete novel here on Gather in hopes that the suggested system will be implemented and prevent such tragedies as your nephew's. Because it didn't have to happen. With my system your nephew would not have been tempted by love of money to do what he did. That is because in my system love of money motivates only good actions. You may find that the novel is God's way of eliminating much of the world's evil. I don't believe that but there are those who do.

I bet it was hard work and very cold for him. I can see where he would want to quit.
After jail, the choices are few and that must have been hard to deal with for him.
It's too bad he cut the monitor off his ankle. I know you are probably very concerned about him.
He may have to go back for awhile this time. I hope he turns up safe & fast so you will not have to worry anymore.

You guys tried your best to keep on the straight and narrow but he made the choice to stray. Just remember that it is not your family's fault.

Going to find himself back inside looking out, if there is a window. I hope he will wake up and get his life back together.

That really sucks Carolyn. My son's father, (and most of his family), especially his uncle, would do stuff like that. Every time he would get out of the joint, he'd do something that would put him right back in. He did 15 years for murder in a maximum security prison...(the uncle), he was sent there when he was 14 years old. When he got out, he wasn't right, and never was again. He was in and out, never out for more then two or three months, and ended up dying in there at 38 years old. Sad.It's very hard for them to readjust once they get out. It's hard on familys, and no matter how much you try to help, sometimes it just isn't enough. I know this isn't making you feel any better, but I just wanted to let you know that I have been there before, and it isn't fun...good luck, and keep praying.

Carolyn - I am so sorry to hear about the worries and trial that your family is facing at this time. I pray, Lord, that You comfort Carolyn and her family in this time of need. That You grant them peace to be calm so that they will be able to hear Your voice and Your instruction. Please, Lord, cover them in Your grace assuring them that You are sovereign and in control of all, that You are where their strength lies. I pray that You fill their hearts hope because with You anything is possible.

Lord, I pray that You teach Carolyn's nephew's heart where and how to see you, where and how to find you. Teach him to seek you, For he cannot seek you unless you teach him, or find you unless you show yourself to him. Let him seek you in his desire, let him desire you in his seeking. Let him find you by loving you, Let him love you when he finds you.

All this I ask in Your name, Lord, AMEN!

I talked with my sister this morning and my nephew is in jail which we're glad because now we know where he is. It more to the story and it's along story but at least he's safe and not on the streets somewhere.

That is sad to hear. I pray that he gets his act together...he can't live a good and happy life this way.

This is sad and I'm sorry your family has to go through it. I"ve had boys get in trouble too. I hope and pray for a good outcome for all of you.

I am so sorry that you were suffering this way - it's always hard when a family member does wrong and we can't do anything but stand by and watch them self-implode. I will pray for him and you and your sister too. Cling to your faith, God knows why, and for what reason and His motives are always for our BEST, their Best and eventually it will work itself out. He made need to lose his freedom for a longer period to learn what freedom really is and how precious it can be when you don't have it. However please do not be too hard on him, ex-cons ned their families more then ever when they get out of prison, and most don't get the support which is why they resort to their old ways.......and of course end up back where they just came out of - prison. Reach out to him and offer him your arms and heart, and tell him that although you don't approve and he needs to turn himself in, that you will stand by him and see that he gets the help he needs - It's always harder when it's family, my heart and prayers go out to you.
