This line was taken from an old T.V. show,Hee Haw.It aired in the late 60's and featured comedy skits, country music, and good laughter. One of the skits had several people standing or sitting in a cornfield having general conversation.Someone would ask an elderly gentleman,"What's fer supper,Granpa?"He would rattle off sumptious foods the likes of,several of us out there have not seen lately.Good down home healthy "vittles";which was condusive to sitting around the table in conversation afterwards.
Today,I am pulling out sausage from the freezer. We get our sausage from a local farmer. He uses no additives and we know when we pick up the pig,it was just butchered. Many times, what is in the store has been on the truck for who knows how long. And who knows what additives?Insecticides from the grain, steroids to fatten quicker, all make for chemical toxic poisonings. If everything that goes in our mouth is processed with chemicals, the amount of health problems multiplies rapidly.
I am going to make spaghetti and add the sausage.I search in the store for a brand of sauce lowest in salt.I brown up the sausage and add onions and green peppers.I also add oregano. Most herbs are beneficial.Onions are a good substitute for salt.Mrs. Dash is another good one. That is a salt substitute. Most noodles are low in salt. The serving size is important.Weight watchers advises a half a cup.Add a small salad;watch the dressings.A tablespoon of salad dressing is better than bottled salad dressings for the calories and salt.
