Duplicate Articles

What do you think when you write an article and the next day someone does the same article? One person seemed upset and claimed on anothers game that they had posted the same game the day before, but when I looked to play there too to ease the hurt feelings, there was no exact game posted.

I did a few  games and another person posted the same one the next day after each were posted . Lately, I have been posting weird news and the next day another person posted on the same news.

Sometimes I will write about a topic and someone writes on it right after I did.

I think this just happens. I see no reason to get upset. Unless you are willing to look at all the articles on gather, you just can't know you have written a duplicate. If I have done it, I have done it unknowingly.

Sometimes I like to see different articles on the same thing as they may give a different perspective.

If its on the same subject but written from another perspective I don't have a problem with it. I had someone actually copy and past one of mine within minutes of posting it. That really ticked me off so I just disconnected from them.

I agree, same topic, different perspective is no issue. I do believe that copying and pasting is not right at all.

If someone copies and paste your article, flag in a report as inappropriate to gather immediately. Then can viw the dates of posting and know who the plagarist is.
I feel that imitation is flattering, if I was the first to do an article on a certain event or whatever and someone published the same topic afterwards I would be flattered. Just as I took the games to a whole new level others have followed in my steps,,,,I do usually go back a couple days to make sure things haven't been overdone...Who wants to list words with the letter x 4 or 5 times in a 3 or 4 day span

We have different connections so maybe someone will see yours and not theirs or visa versa AND sometimes., Great Minds really do think alike.
If that upsets you. I think you're already a little mad about something else and when you saw YOUR article,,,,,well, That was It.
Relax, breathe and post! maybe you'll wanna bring it tio their attention.
But by all means....Keep your cool Sista.

I agree, I have seen this as well - being on both ends & I know I didn't do it intentionally, so I have to assume that the other person didn't either

I agree with the "different perspective not a problem but plagiarism is wrong" point of view. As for games, I think that sometimes there are so many games that people just don't realize that someone else has recently posted that game, so it's probably just an oversight.

Thanks everyone for commenting. I was not upset about it, I just wondered what other people thought when it happened to them as I did see where someone got upset about it.

I think sometimes people take things too seriously and as long as you don't cut and paste my articles....

So far I've never had anyone duplicate my articles but I don't think I would mind. There are way too many people here to keep track of every article.

Actually, you are not supposed to copy this and claim it, it does cause copywrite problems. (my understanding) You also have a publish date by posting it here too. The problem is that some people don't think anything of it. It will be copied and somebody may even try to claim it too. It isn't right, it is just a symptom of our society. Two people could very easily come up with similar ideas for games within hours, or even days, and not know about the other article. If somebody copies and prints under their name, that is WRONG. If it was a coincidence, that is another issue, especially when it comes to the games. THEY ARE GAMES, not creative writing.

Lisa is right. Games are games. Most of the ones I've seen posted have been done many times. They're not original material. But if you're posting your original writings, they certainly are protected by copyright. You have proof of when your wrote them, both on your own computer's system (if you've saved them there) and here for when your article posts. That doesn' t mean that people don't steal. They do. I've been trying to get hellium to take down an article I published at ezinearticles.com and it was copied word for word by someone at hellium two days later. That woman is making money from my words, and I have proof of when I wrote them on my computer and when they were posted at ezinesarticles.

I know that some people think about the same things or eat the same foods the same day that you do and then they write about it. Happened to me once already. I know that is going to happen but if the game looks exactly the same then it is plagiarism and that is illegal. Writing an article that is very similar to yours is plagiarism. But if you write a recipe up that you did, and you changed it in some way, or added stuff, or cooked it differently than it is yours, not theirs. I don't know why people have to make close copies though. What does it get them?
