My baby attacked by bees today..

My 15 month old was at my mothers house playing with his cousin who is 3 and his brother who is 2 1/2. They were playing in a little play house for about 20 minutes when they came running out and my baby was being attacked by bees. They stung him 9 times. 1 on the head.. both pointy fingers.. 2 on hand 2 on face 1 on back and 1 on his elbow. When I got to my moms he was soo sad.. but Thank god he was OK!! We gave him zyrtec and he never swolled up. He only had a little swelling right after being stung but they are all down and gone now so you cant tell he was stung! He is my big boy Blake~

Eeeee. I saw a puppy get stung to death by bees once. It was horrible.

Oh wow! How lucky you were that he was ok and that you got to him. As a teen I saved a little girl one time from being attacked by a wasp nest that she hit. It was horrible. And it's how I found out that I'm allergic to bees.

I am glad he is ok. It could have been much worse. I hate bees and I will scream like a wild woman if one comes near me.

poor blakey,,, when I was young,, i was riding one of those rocking rides in the park ( back and forth) and there were bee in them,, loo and behold,, I got nailed, spent a night in the hospital,, back them days they did have they fast bendadryl or zyrtec. I look like I had the mumps for a week..

I have never dealt with bees really. I am not allergic but my mom has a brother and sister who are highly allergic so she was really scared! She is a nurse also fdor a doctor so that made me freaked out more that she was freaked out.

It is scary and no he is not allergic to them!! Thank God cause as young as he is it would have been a really bad deal. He was back up and playing about 30 minutes after it happened!

Oh poor little Blake!! Glad to hear he's ok, Tiffany. I can certainly identify - my youngest walked into a bee's nest a few years ago (he was about 4) and got stung about 15 times. Lucky for us he's not allergic either - and he was on zyrtec for his allergies at the time and had already had his dose for the day :-)

Sorry to hear it Tiffany, but you need to keep a good eye on him if he gets stung once. Sometimes when one is exposed an allergy can develop. My older son is severely allergic to bee stings and this didn't occur til he was 14. My older daughter is allergic to Christmas trees, my younger daughter is allergic to suave baby shampoo and it sent her to the ER twice until I figured out what it was. Keep benadryll or cortisone cream in the house for immediate use. The sooner you get something on it, the better.

I had an email from my aunt that said putting a penny on the sting will help with the pain and swelling. You tape the penny on the sting for 15 minutes.

Wow, I would have been scared to death, I am allergic to bees myself, and when my daughter was about eight she was playing with her three brothers in our back yard and one of them broke a bee hive and she was stung all over, I think she was more scared of the treatment, because they grabbed her and rolled her in the mud, than she was of the bites, but she carried a phobia about bees all her life from that incident. I am glad Blake is okay , If he gets stung again, be sure you get him looked at quickly if you see even a little swelling as sometimes the allergy can come swiftly after a bite. I was in my late thirties when I had my reaction and had been stung off and on all my life. Don't like bees at all. Hope you are okay Tiffany, mommies get scared when their babies hurt.

thank you everyone for caring about me and my baby! He is much better! He actually was okay a few hours later the swelling had gone down and you could no longer see where he had got stung from!

But Elsie and Heather are right about allergies popping up later in life. Always monitor someone after a sting. You never know........

I just thought I woudl let you know.. that although your child did not have a sever reaction to them now... they could next time they are stung....

my now 18 year old was stung in the face her junior year in high schooll her face swelled, but we did the benedryl thing and just watched her.. well she was in AIT and Basic training and got stung and her whole arm swelled.. the next time a couple of weeks later.. she ended up passing out...

so beware.. sometimes when they are attacked like that next time is not so nice on them...

That is scarry Tiff. I am glad that he did not have an alergic reaction to the stings. Is your mother having an exterminator come out to take care of the bees? What kind of bees were they?

I know one thing. These were not Africanized bees like somo of them are in Texas because he would have had a lot more than nine stings.
