As children most of us had three meals a day. Mealtime was a war for me as I didn't like to eat. There were few foods I liked and I got full very quickly. I was a small child and liked drinking water all the time. I got used to having three meals a day. I got used to meat with most meals. The older I have gotten I have cut back on the times I eat meat and like a baked potato and veggie dinner. I was so used to eating three meals at set times and I do drink alot of water in between I didn't feel hunger often. Now I don't eat three set meals and I wait until I am hungry. That and lessing the starches I eat has resulted in me losing 15 pounds.
I was wondering if other people wait until they are hungry to eat. Do you eat when you are hungry or do you eat automatically because it's dinner time.

Thanks Sheila, my daughter and I have been doing similar things. I eat a salad, later I have dinner with my husband and if I get hungry again, it's another salad.

It seems if I eat a little when I'm hungry and stop I do just fine. I run into problems if I wait too long to eat.

Thanks Paula, sometimes when I am alone, I get so busy I don't want to stop to eat. With taking insulin, I do feel like I am going to drop...it's low blood sugar levels. I often feel sick but once I eat, I feel better!

I was rasied on large portions of bad food and was taught to "clean my plate"
hard habit to break after 36 years.
Now that my hyper-thyroid is calmed down my appetite dropped thank God! I only eat when hungry now which is every 5 hours or so. Last 10 years I was eating all the damn day, because of my thyroid... it told me I was starving all the time..it was a horrible sensation to eat eat and eat and never feel full. and of course gain 100 pounds in a decade! slowly it is coming off.
I kind of do both. I eat regular meals and sometimes snack when I am hungry.
