Have you seen the latest ad for John McCain calling Senator Obama "The One".Absolutely hilarious. You know Charlton Heston parting the Red Sea just like Senator Obama talks about lowering waters due to global warming.
A riot.
I was just rolling on the floor laughing my ass off.
As McCain spokesman, Nicolle Wallace stated:
"There is an important role for humor in political campaigns," she told reporters. "I think all of us would slit our wrists if there wasn't."
Ha Ha Ha Ha....committing suicide and 'slitting your wrists' is a riot. I mean the last time I heard something so funny was Harold and Maude.
In fact his ad his SO funny, I mean why don't we tell some jokes about how captivity in Vietnam was so UNFUNNY, that John McCain actually did try to commit suicide.
As reported:
"And the records mentioned that in 1968, after he received some particularly brutal beatings from his North Vietnamese captors, Mr. McCain attempted suicide, trying to hang himself by his shirt — something that Mr. McCain seemed to allude to this spring in a speech on immigration."
Ha Ha Ha Ha...isnt' THAT funny. I mean trying to hang himself by his shirt.
Isn't campaigning a riot!
Anyone know any jokes about MELANOMA? Ha ha ha ha ha.
I am so glad that Senator McCain is talking about issues. About how he has been for the war in Iraq. And how GREAT it would be to have ANOTHER FOUR YEARS of Republican rule.
How about some more judges on the Supreme Court like Alito? hahahhahahahaha
Another great joke.
Maybe a joke about rape Senator McCain?
Or about Chelsea Clinton?
Or how about killing Iranians with cigarettes?
Or that funny ditty, "bomb, bomb, bomb Iran".
hahahahahahahahahah
It is so much fun and what a lot of humor to have Senator McCain run a campaign. I can hardly wait until he is President. Ought to be a laugh a minute.
Maybe he can 'learn to get online' and even check his email. hahahahahahahah
This is going to be a great election this November!

I love it! "To be honest" hahahahahhah "In my not so humble opinion"...hahahahahahahhah,
You are suffering.....Hhhahahhahahahahh....from "sense of humor failure"......hhahaahha
by the way......butt cheeks....hahahahahahhah.
Hey! You're even FUNNIER than Senator McCain. Thanks for the comment.
But I do have to confess, I had to GOOGLE those to figure them out.
Something the Dear Senator from Arizona would have to ASK HIS WIFE to do!
hahahahhahahahahahahahahahahhahah.
And thanks for the "1" vote. It really helps my rating on this post!
hahahahahhahahahahahahhhahahahahahahhahaha
I did not rate your post at all. I'm not a "hit and run rater / raider." It is my understanding that the Gather rating system is to be used to assess the writer's writing NOT to rate the readers degree of agreement / disagreement with the writer's opinion or content. According to Gather standards, that would be totally unethical! As a teacher of both composition and literature, I think that you would admit that does not take a great deal of effort or thought to write a page full of "Ha Ha's." As a teacher, I might give you an "F-" but as a reader I respect your right to have your opinion.
You seem to resort to sarcasm rather than wit when a Gatheranian happens not to agree with you. I personally think that all of us should make an attempt to raise the level of civil discourse on this site rather than to increase the amount of "diss" and "coarse." I am kind of on my own "campaign."
Based upon your derision of Candidate McCain, I am not persuaded to change my vote. Quite honestly, your overall hostility makes me even more suspect of Candidate Obama. If all Obamanians rely on rhetoric and snide remarks to demonstrate their admiration for Candidate Obama, I do wonder what he has to offer other than sheer "idolatry." I am not the only one who is beginning to be turned off to Obama because some of his supporters present no reason to support him. When I read the rantings I feel like I am listening to the Reverend Wright or Reverend Farakhan (sp). Describe to us one issue or position statement of Senator McCain's that you disagree with and we can discuss it. Otherwise, TTFN and YOYO.
Thanks so much for raising the level of conversation.
Perhaps you can pass that on to anyone you might know connected with the McCain campaign.
They have been the one to compare Obama with Britney Spears, Paris Hilton, and now Moses.
They are the ones lowering the level of the debate.
I am responding to THEIR ads. Not really responding to your conversation.
They have chosen to ridicule Obama rather than discuss issues.
Am I upset? You bet I am. I saw Senator John Kerry devastated by lies and innuendo.
John McCain was slimed by the same machine in South Carolina---and now has embraced the slime.
So do talk issues.
I can handle that.

Excellent dear, then please try and explain my Barack's energy stand. Seems he believes all we have to do is keep our tires inflated! Oh, what a laugh riot! I won't be selling very many Obama statues if he keeps this up!
Thanks for commenting.
From the Christian Science Monitor:
http://www.csmonitor.com/2008/0630/p01s02-uspo.html
"Senator McCain, the presumptive GOP nominee, wants 45 new nuclear power plants by 2030 and an end to the federal moratorium on new offshore drilling. He would use market lures – tax rebates for electric cars, a $300 million prize for a better car battery – to promote alternative sources of energy. He would offer motorists immediate relief in the form of a hiatus in the federal gas tax.
Senator Obama, the presumptive Democratic nominee, opposes new offshore drilling and is wary of nuclear power. He would double auto fuel-efficiency standards within 18 years, subsidize development of ethanol, and force power companies to generate one- quarter of their energy from wind, solar, and other renewable sources by 2025.
An opponent of the gas-tax holiday, Obama favors a "windfall profits" tax on multinational oil companies.
In many ways, their approaches square with party ideology. On the Republican side, financial carrots and a significant role for the private sector. On the Democratic side, subsidies, taxes, and regulation."
Energy is just one of many reasons why Obama and the Democratic Party need to regain control of this government. Far more important is return to the rule of law, ending abuse in the Justice Department, appointment of qualified judicial nominees, ending 'signing statements', torture, rendition, and illegal wire-tapping.
These are some of the things the Republicans have embraced. And it doesn't matter if it is John McCain or George W. Bush, it is time for the party that has messed up this nation to give the opposition a shot at fixing the mess it has delivered.
Perhaps, you missed the latest. Candidate Obama is now in support of off-shore drilling as long as it is part of a comprehensive energy plan including perfectly inflated tires and a $1,000 stimulus check to offset the rising cost of gas. I'm sure you noticed that he raised the stimulus check from $600. He adjusted for rising energy costs!
If you and SM are not going to flying around today, you should check out the recent posts. It's simply all over the web, Darling!
Candidate retracted his opposition for off-shore drilling.
Obama overstated the savings on inflating tires but it is actually quite significant.
Using the conservative ABC news website on 'fact-check' they stated:
http://blogs.abcnews.com/politicalpunch/2008/07/from-the-fact-1.html
"It means that if every American was running around with significantly underinflated tires and improperly tuned cars, then, yes, Sen. Obama is right, the savings from inflating the tires and tuning the cars could arguably match or exceed current output from the OCS.
However, since estimates of significant tire underinflation affect only about a quarter of the cars on road -- as we noted above with the NHTSA statistics -- and it’s highly unlikely that 100% of the cars are in need of tune- ups at any given time, the maximum savings amount is probably closer to 10%, Verrastro says.
"So the production offset is more likely to approach 800 thousand barrels per day – a tidy sum and a worthwhile target for savings, but not equal to OCS output," he rules. "Finally, without knowing what production volumes could be expected from lifting the ban on OCS drilling moratoria, it’s impossible to assert that taking these fuel savings actions would exceed future offshore oil volumes, and in fact, one might argue that the combination of achieving these savings AND developing new supply would doubly enhance US energy security."
So everyone's correct. And yes, Obama did backtrack a bit on the offshore oil drilling.
But the point is that CONSERVATION and increasing fuel efficiency, and alternative fuels, solar, wind, etc. need to be in the equation.
DRILL DRILL DRILL is NOT a long-term solution.
I think everyone can agree on that.
I do believe that we need to judiciously and safely explore for new oil while we need to conserve and develop alternate fuels. Al Gore is also basically right that we need to get off our Carbon-based energy system.
Am I being reasonable now or what?
http://gristmill.grist.org/story/2008/8/1/13351/54062
"Actually, it is probably the Bush administration's own Department of Energy and Environmental Protection Agency that has filled him with that stuff. Let's do the math.
First, America consumes about 22 million barrels of oil a day. According to a recent EPA report, "light-duty vehicles account for approximately 40 percent of all U.S. oil consumption," or about 9 million barrels of oil a day.
Strange as it may seem, the Bush/Cheney DOE and EPA jointly run a website, fueleconomy.gov, that provides recommendations to consumers for saving fuel. And it quantifies the savings. First, we have the recommendations for:
Keeping your car in shape
* Keep Your Engine Properly Tuned: Fixing a car that is noticeably out of tune or has failed an emissions test can improve its gas mileage by an average of 4 percent, though results vary based on the kind of repair and how well it is done. Fixing a serious maintenance problem, such as a faulty oxygen sensor, can improve your mileage by as much as 40 percent.
* Check & Replace Air Filters Regularly: Replacing a clogged air filter can improve your car's gas mileage by as much as 10 percent. Your car's air filter keeps impurities from damaging the inside of your engine. Not only will replacing a dirty air filter save gas, it will protect your engine.
* Keep Tires Properly Inflated: You can improve your gas mileage by around 3.3 percent by keeping your tires inflated to the proper pressure. Under-inflated tires can lower gas mileage by 0.4 percent for every 1 psi drop in pressure of all four tires. Properly inflated tires are safer and last longer.
* Use the Recommended Grade of Motor Oil: You can improve your gas mileage by 1-2 percent by using the manufacturer's recommended grade of motor oil. For example, using 10W-30 motor oil in an engine designed to use 5W-30 can lower your gas mileage by 1-2 percent. Using 5W-30 in an engine designed for 5W-20 can lower your gas mileage by 1-1.5 percent. Also, look for motor oil that says "Energy Conserving" on the API performance symbol to be sure it contains friction-reducing additives.
Okay, let's say we had a real president who actually cared about ending our addiction to oil during a time we are at war in the Persian Gulf. Let's say he made a major effort to work with the governors and the mayor is to educate the public and perhaps had an economic stimulus package that included vouchers for low income people to get their car tuned up.
How much could we save? Let's be conservative here and just say 10%. That's 900,000 barrels a day. That's ANWR. That's six times what is currently blocked by the congressional moratorium on coastal drilling.
But that's not all. Limbaugh noted that the recommendations he has been ignoring all of these years include "avoid jackrabbits starts." Turns out the DOE has also quantified the benefits of:
Driving more efficiently
* Drive Sensibly: Aggressive driving (speeding, rapid acceleration and braking) wastes gas. It can lower your gas mileage by 33 percent at highway speeds and by 5 percent around town. Sensible driving is also safer for you and others, so you may save more than gas money.
* Observe the Speed Limit: While each vehicle reaches its optimal fuel economy at a different speed (or range of speeds), gas mileage usually decreases rapidly at speeds above 60 mph. You can assume that each 5 mph you drive over 60 mph is like paying an additional $0.30 per gallon for gas. Observing the speed limit is also safer. Fuel economy benefit: 7-23%.
* Remove Excess Weight: Avoid keeping unnecessary items in your vehicle, especially heavy ones. An extra 100 pounds in your vehicle could reduce your MPG by up to 2%. The reduction is based on the percentage of extra weight relative to the vehicle's weight and affects smaller vehicles more than larger ones.
So let's say we had a president who could inspire the nation to drive safer while saving money and reducing oil consumption and pollution.
How much could we save? Let's be conservative here and just say 20% -- after all, I'm sure Limbaugh's dittoheads will keep driving dangerously and inefficiently no matter what anyone says. That's 1,800,000 barrels a day. That's two ANWRs. That's twelve times what is currently blocked by the Congressional moratorium on coastal drilling.
So being conservative -- or at least, being someone who cares about human life and the nation's economic health and well-being -- the nation could save some 2.5 to 3 million barrels a day through better automotive maintenance and smarter driving.
Looks like Obama is right and Limbaugh is wrong. What a shock.
If only we could find a visionary president who could inspire Americans during these troubled times."
That's the gist from the Grist.
Obama has demonstrated his ability to work 'across the aisle' to do this.
http://ap.google.com/article/ALeqM5isOFwdbq0tsqatW6vJpkDRTI1gMgD929P6301
"ST. PETERSBURG, Fla. (AP) — Democratic presidential candidate Barack Obama said Friday he would be willing to support limited additional offshore oil drilling if that's what it takes to enact a comprehensive policy to foster fuel-efficient autos and develop alternate energy sources.
Shifting from his previous opposition to expanded offshore drilling, the Illinois senator told a Florida newspaper he could get behind a compromise with Republicans and oil companies to prevent gridlock over energy.
Republican rival John McCain, who earlier dropped his opposition to offshore drilling, has been criticizing Obama on the stump and in broadcast ads for clinging to his opposition as gasoline prices topped $4 a gallon. Polls indicate these attacks have helped McCain gain ground on Obama.
"My interest is in making sure we've got the kind of comprehensive energy policy that can bring down gas prices," Obama said in an interview with The Palm Beach Post.
"If, in order to get that passed, we have to compromise in terms of a careful, well thought-out drilling strategy that was carefully circumscribed to avoid significant environmental damage — I don't want to be so rigid that we can't get something done."
You can read the A.P. article yourself.
He stated:
"Like all compromises, it also includes steps that I haven't always supported," Obama conceded. "I remain skeptical that new offshore drilling will bring down gas prices in the short-term or significantly reduce our oil dependence in the long-term, though I do welcome the establishment of a process that will allow us to make future drilling decisions based on science and fact."
Nevertheless, Obama said the plan, put forward by mostly moderates and conservatives led by Sens. Kent Conrad, D-N.D., and Saxby Chambliss, R-Ga., "represents a good faith effort at a new bipartisan beginning."
You can say that being inflexible is bad, but I believe that working with your opponents to advance legislation is proper and effective.
Where Obama is making a great mistake IMO is that he is letting McCain define the issue, thus losing the edge re: his main theme of change and looking forward instead of backward. Obama is not talking about conservation as the most likely way to bring down energy prices (Toyota will introduce the plug-in Prius to the market in 2010; GM will start producing the Volt around the same time); he is not talking about advances in solar technology (Nanosolar and other nanotechnology companies, which are very close to making solar energy competitive with coal); he is not talking about wind energy (T. Boone Pickens has a plan to reduce our dependency on foreign oil by 38% in ten years, is a republican, and says we can't drill our way out of this problem); he is not talking about a total transfer of our economy to renewables within ten years (cf. Al Gore's recent speech). In short, he is failing to use the energy issue to present a comprehensive vision for the future.
That said, I will vote for him and I have sent his campaign money. I would have preferred Clinton, because I knew the Clintons are familiar with Amory Lovins. But I think Obama is squandering a major opportunity here.
Thanks for the note.
The McCain thinks the election is some sort of joke. I don't think he is funny.
He insults the intelligence of America. And I suspect it is effective anyhow. It is the Karl Rove strategy of attack, attack, attack. Don't deal with issues. Scare people. And it is easy to scare an America that is frightened about racial issues.
Is it some sort of coincidence that Obama was paired with Britney Spears and Paris Hilton? Isn't THAT the race card?
Read Bob Herbert from the NYTimes:
http://www.nytimes.com/2008/08/02/opinion/02herbert.html?_r=1&hp&oref=slogin
"Now, from the hapless but increasingly venomous McCain campaign, comes the slimy Britney Spears and Paris Hilton ad. The two highly sexualized women (both notorious for displaying themselves to the paparazzi while not wearing underwear) are shown briefly and incongruously at the beginning of a commercial critical of Mr. Obama.
The Republican National Committee targeted Harold Ford with a similarly disgusting ad in 2006 when Mr. Ford, then a congressman, was running a strong race for a U.S. Senate seat in Tennessee. The ad, which the committee described as a parody, showed a scantily clad woman whispering, “Harold, call me.”
Both ads were foul, poisonous and emanated from the upper reaches of the Republican Party. (What a surprise.) Both were designed to exploit the hostility, anxiety and resentment of the many white Americans who are still freakishly hung up on the idea of black men rising above their station and becoming sexually involved with white women.
The racial fantasy factor in this presidential campaign is out of control. It was at work in that New Yorker cover that caused such a stir. (Mr. Obama in Muslim garb with the American flag burning in the fireplace.) It’s driving the idea that Barack Obama is somehow presumptuous, too arrogant, too big for his britches — a man who obviously does not know his place.
Mr. Obama has to endure these grotesque insults with a smile and heroic levels of equanimity. The reason he has to do this — the sole reason — is that he is black."
So if I sound angry or hostile I am. I am sick and tired of a Republican Party that exploits our fears, our insecurities, and our prejudices.
It entertains me the contortions that Republicans are undergoing in order to defend the wave of negative ads from McCain.
I had one lady assure me today here on gather that the mccain campaign selected Paris and Britney for the ad merely because they are famous. There was no disrespect intended towards Obama, quite the contrary Nobody was accusing him of being a substance abusing slut who would happily go panty-less for a bit of exposure, no, not at all.
Try out their reaction if a commercial made such an accusation towards their candidate.
Don't let, "The Teachers", chastisement bother you. Not all teachers are bad people. Don't take her threats of being given the dreaded, "F", worry you, either. She has no real power, except in her own mind. Maybe she can terrorize gradeschoolers with those types of empty threats, but that's where your domination ends, as we all, eventually outgrow these types.
Someone mentioned Obama's advice to keep the tires inflated correctly. What's wrong with that? He didn't say that's all we have to do to bring down the price of gas, it was just one of a lot of small thing we can do to save gas and money. And you know what? That, and other changes being made by drivers, is bringing down gas parices. We as a nation, are driving millions of fewer miles. More people are riding public transportation and buying motorcycles and motor scooters, and riding bicycles. All McCain can suggest is to drill for more oil in places it is presently not allowed. That is not funny, when they already have the right to drill in many other places and haven't done it.
And why in Hades are we still subsidizing oil companies? That is a really big hahaha with the laughing coming from the oil men.
But it appears as if McLame is going to win it because his attack ads are doing well even though there isn't a word of truth in them.
This is something many people overlook.
It not only conserves gas, it reduces tire wear, improves control, and helps prevent a deadly blowout at high speed, high temperature driving conditions.
And it is so simple.
I wish someone would explain why we need to issue more leases to drill, when there are so many existing leases which the oil companies are not using?
I'm just sayin'
