"Did you hear the one about the woman who is attacked on the street by a gorilla, beaten senseless, raped repeatedly and left to die? When she finally regains consciousness and tries to speak, her doctor leans over to hear her sigh contently and to feebly ask, 'Where is that marvelous ape?'"
Here is the link to the original pdf file of the article from the Tucscon Citizen.

So is this a big deal about nothing?
What are the actual effects of rape?
According to this University of Michigan Health System article:
"The effects of rape are both physical and psychological. This doesn't sound like a picnic to me.Physical effects on the victim may include:
- injuries from beating or choking, such as bruises, scratches, cuts, and broken bones
- swelling around the genital area
- bruising around the vagina
- injury to the rectal-vaginal area (for example, tearing of the tissue that connects the anus to the vagina)
- sexually transmitted diseases (such as, herpes, gonorrhea, AIDS, and syphilis)
- possible pregnancy (in a regularly menstruating female).
Psychological effects on the victim may include:
- severe anxiety
- depression
- difficulty concentrating or sleeping
- dreaming about what happened
- inappropriate guilt feelings
- emotional numbness or irritability
- flashbacks
- nightmares
- extreme fear"
Does Senator McCain have a judgment problem? Is this a big deal about nothing? Or is it more important that Americans not vote for a candidate that has a middle name that rhymes with "Osama" than worrying about voting for a man who can joke about the victimization of women.
What do you think?

It would not be funny to make jokes about 9/11 victims.
It is not funny to make jokes about rape.
Hey, tell me something, how many women have been raped by gorillas? Just wondering.
because their punch lines are worth a damn. -here i am, a "black fella"...and i often chuckle at a good "goose 'im and noose 'im" joke.
does this make me perverse?
maybe.
more likely: i can step outside of the box for a second and hear the intent of the intellect behind said.
in short: if you go up and re-read the joke, it doesn't in any way attack the woman who was jumped on. or her subsequent rape.
instead, it's a zinger about angles...like looking into a warped mirror at an amusement park, and finding out your little brother's taller than you--just for now, while you're standing right there. and his head's larger than a gourd.
et cetera.
for the record: were i a voter, it'd be Obama all day.
but i don't.
i don't even believe in this system's viability.
part of the problem: an overbearing Political Correctness.
would i countenance this joke being told at a Victims Anonymous meeting? hell no. that's just a matter of Couth and Canny, though.
was the joke's zinger worth a damn at 3 p.m. (EST) on Gather?
yeah; sure. "the chick liked it, she asked after the ape's whereabouts, last thing i expected, chuckle-chuckle."
if you can't see what i mean--if you can't see the nuances--then mayhap thine eye is sealed.
Anyone making the joke above should know that it's not funny to women. But that said, there are bigger issues where McCain is totally off track: energy, the economy, and continuing a war in Iraq that never should have happened in the first place would count as my top 3.
I gave you the llink to the original article. John McCain is on record with similar jokes. You know the one about why Chelsea Clinton is so ugly because her father is Janet Reno? You probably heard that one. Or the recent joke about selling cigarettes to Iranians so they can die. That was a hoot too.
McCain, in that article DID NOT DENY THE JOKE. He just said he DIDN'T RECOLLECT. THAT is a big difference.
In any case, your "FEMANAZI" comment is equally distasteful and insensitive. But Rush would think it was funny too.
