When will we stop hate. Here's my rant for the day. I hate using politically correct terms.
Ex. Hate crimes, multi-tasker, soccer mom etc.
Racism will stop only when we stop using terms to label people. It's the media and the government's way of being politically correct.
Here's one for you: Hispanic
Hispanic are not a race, but they don't fit into a convenient catergory. So we make them one, so we can classify them.
I saw 2 examples yesterday of evil.
1. An old man of different ethniticity from the majority sat in a courtman. His crime: Making an illegal right turn. He went from the right lane into the left lane.
He explained, "There was a storm drain and I was afraid it would hurt my alignment. The officer explained, the storm drain was not in ill repair. The man was fined. I think it was his old car and long hair. I think that cop needed to pull him over and find something on him. How many times I have done the same thing next to a cop and never pulled over. What about you.
2. While at a local college library, the librarian was overhead to say, "It happened on the black side of town." We were appalled. But she was indifferent.
Hate is wrong and so is murder of anyone. Cruelty to a person or animal is evil. Evil should be punished.
*Note: I am a right winger, yet wrong is wrong.

Racisim. America is an amazing place. There are so many ethnic groups here, so many different peoples, and for the most part, they manage to live together, with or without religeon as an issue. I feel bad for those who feel that religeous beliefs contribute to many of the factors that cause displeasure withen this society. This country was founded on good, solid beliefs as well as freethinking philosophy. It wasn't something that was just put together Helter Skelter. Each state either rejected it, or accepted it. Its this point that makes the USA such a cool place! Where I come from- historically, you had not rights. You served the Church (which ran your spiritual Life completly, right down to what you read, thought, composed and created) and the Emperor- who ran the rest of your Life. He/She could either make you, or break you. What is worse, to be a professional meant that you served the Emperor or the Church with your Scientific/Artistic/Jurisprudence/Philosophical-educational skills/military skills. Anyone else was a common tradesman or peasent-anything else, was a vagrent and should be put in jail. This Attitude lasted for almost two thousend years. Americans really don't know how lucky they have it. It really is the land of the free and the home of the brave, and I don't say that lightly. Today, most of what America has to offer is taken for granted. Thats the saddness of it.
To come here, and see the beauty of this land-the awe of her geology, the treasures of her Archeology, the ability to study at any university and become a success- is really a blessing.
I can go to any church I want- and follow whatever discipline I want to belive in my Heavenly Father.
The best part- there isn't anyone who can tell me otherwise.
As for those terms.
Most of that nonesense is for beaureaucratic usage- for instance the Census. Down the road, that is helpful information if you are doing geneology. It gives you insight as to whom and where your family may have come from. I don't see it degrading at all.
What is degrading is when a Naive American accuses you of being a NAZI because you come from Austria.
Racism = Stupidity
Stupidity= lack of education
lack of education= lack of awareness
and when a republic starts to decay and die, it succumbs to the above.
Johannes Chrysostomus M.
Hey, it made almost 100 people homeless, but it got rid of that nasty eye sore (that you had to drive out of your way on the other side of the tracks to see), and that "undesireable element" (poor people working as waitstaff, etc., or disabled or retired but only on social security...)
Any time you label a group, you lose the faces which belong to it.
PS the white cracker part is true.
Is there something I said that condones racism or evil from anybody. To hurt innocent people is simply wrong. Now if your son is called a name that's bad, but he was called a name by a racist person. Get a grip on this and maybe some of it will go away. If my son were called such a name, I'd call the parent or principal, but I'd stop it. I had problems like that at school with my youngest adopted daughter. I quit my job and stay home and home school her. I work a few hours a week at the local college and keep her with me. This is the only way to keep our children safe from such evil. Protect your son: Move, Home School, Sign a complaint with the school board. It will stop. I don't speak out both sides of my mouth. Evil is wrong whenever it appears. If we teach our children terms like Hispanic and Black and Cracker we are sinning against God who made them and committing a terrible sin against our children.
Situation number two, it seems like although appalled, did anyone take the time out to point out the racism in her comment? Carol, you said you would have referred to it geographically, as it should have been, but yet the comment was let by. By allowing her to hold on to that negative connotation, aren't you helping to continue the practice?
I think racism can end. Think about it, if all the people who replied to this post did what they could to point out comments, behaviors, perceptions, etc. that they encountered and taught their children not to perpetuate it, it could be done. Can it be done in a lifetime, of course not, it'll most likely take centuries, but we can start now. I know that this is an utopian POV, but if we actually did something about it on a daily basis instead of just talking about it, we could be the people that God intended us to be.
Back in my college days I had a white friend that only dated African american men. Now this was back in the mid 80's. Anyway some guys were giving her some crap about it and she proceeded to tell them that her boyfriend could beat them up. Cause he was big and black. She assumed just because of a persons skin color made them tougher or weaker than another person. Now I didnt necessarily see her as a racist and she didnt mean anything bad to white men I think she was trying to advocate for african americans.
Thanks for the welcome. America is one of the greatest nations in the world. As I remember, from preparing for my exam- it is the great melting pot. The Classless nation!
Sadly--I think that we are now becoming more class oriented. Because of this, there is more definition between the ethnic groups. The Beauracracy thrives on this- its how it functions.
Each generation has its new ethnic group to contend with.
Since, my generation is closer to the WWII boomer generation, I get the "Nazi" harrassment. What is funny- I am everything that the "Nazis' " wanted to rid themselves of! I am not even blond! My Gymnasium years were spent taking classes in German, German History, The Holocaust- I had a real big dose of that! And how the Americans really saved us. Sadly, my homeland was occupied by the Allies right up until the fifties- and only now, in the last forty some years has it been free to roam in. Americans cannot relate to that. Their country is too young- they are still strong and able to stand up to just about anything and come out on top if they choose to, and are led right.
I am very happy and proud to be here. I have no desire to turn American flags upside down with my homelands flag. I am proud of my heritage, my origen, and culture- but I am also proud of my adopted homeland. If I were young enough, and physically able- I too would be a soldier in Iraq right now. No doubt about it. War isn't something I agree with, but when you take on the duties of citizanship- serving your country becomes part of that duty.
