We've had quite a time this past month with two of the horses foundering, and a sick cat. Anastacia, our strawberry blond, has made a full recovery and is back to her normal inquisitive self but Sonata was hit hard and is still on the mend. We thought we might lose her at one point but she seems to have made it through the most critical time with some intensive nursing (Deb's specialty). In order to make it possible to be down at the pasture for most of the day, every day, I've moved my office down there.

Technology is an amazing thing. With an adapter for the car that gives me an electrical outlet, a wireless card from the cell phone company, and a bit of ingenuity, I've been able to do just about anything from my lawn chair under a tree. We've even had some company.

This little fellow has been in the branches above my head every day I've been down there. And he hasn't seemed at all bothered by our company.
I've decided that once the horses are all sound we'll probably still continue to do this a couple of days a week as the view just can't be beat.
So, that's where we've been. Hopefully I'll be back to visiting with you all here soon as I've missed your company.

What a great place for an office! I hope you do manage to spend more time out there when the crisis is over!
It is pretty amazing that a place like that can become an office. Makes me imagine all the possibilities - next year maybe I'll be working from the beach, or the lake :)
You are amazing!
And you plug it into the power plant or the "current" bush?
Into the car :)
Yeah -- but it's hard to pass up a chance to use those corny Scout jokes, eh?
Ahh - sorry - was a bit slow there.
Looks like a great office to me - sorry for the reason you had to do it, though!
I'm glad your babies are on the mend. The office can't be beat, that's what I used to do on my balcony.
I can see that set-up working well on a balcony - today I actually worked from home and eyed the back porch as an option to set up an office. Birds singing, a view of the mountains, and the rambunctious dogs....never mind :)
Eek! Founder is scary stuff. I hope they both make complete and total recoveries!
That is a great place for an office, though. I wish I could drag my desktop down to Sarge's pasture, but that would be a bit bulky...
Thanks Tory - it is very scary. Sonata has a history of it and so we are very careful with her but this year so rainy and wet that we had no choice but to expose her to a little spring grass. That was all it took.
I have to say there is nothing more relaxing than to look up and so the horses contentedly munching away.
And here I thought I was being adventurous just taking my laptop to the porch. Nice to hear the "kids" are all doing better.
glad the critters are recovering
I'm laughing because three people in our house have the same shoes as you. :-)
Hope your horse or horses are doing alright, now.
Shoes are never a laughing matter.
Those shoes rock! I live in them all summer :)
Now that's a green office.
Since my office doesn't even have windows, I am totally jealous of the workspace you have created. So glad all the critters are on the mend.
No windows Faith? That seems almost criminal (yes, that was intended).
I want your job. I wish I could do psych nursing under a tree, but all the patients would run away.
Tree frogs are so much fun. I'm glad you're doing well and enjoying both technology and nature.
Damn! I need a job with an office like that! Although every now and then I'd have to move out from under the tree to work on the tan, you know? Heh, heh!
I'm glad to hear your "kids" are getting better. That must have been scary! And how is Bogie?
Yikes! Sorry to hear about the horses foundering - scary! Love your new office -you must not have any biting bugs dive bombing you there!
fantastic office!! now what are you going to do with that duct tape??
hope sonata heals quickly.
I'm glad the animals are on the mend, and I have to say your little froggy friend is pretty cute. It looks like a great place to work for you...I on the other hand would get too hot! Don't laugh, your day is coming...enjoy the summer sunshine now!
All this time I thought you were just taking a well-deserved break from Gather!
Good to know the horsies are doing better, though. How about the rest of 'em... two-legged variety included, hmm?
(Pssst... I heard that the green thing above you is actually a spy sent by a certain Madame... she wants to make sure you're doing ok... eating right and all that stuff ya know?)
I just love your new office, what a clever idea. Your new friend is a great office mascot.
I'm glad to hear your horses are doing better, I'm sure you constant presence has a lot to do with their recovery.
Hope your animals recover quickly.
Sorry to hear kitty was sick but glad to hear she's better... Glad to see you're little icon again! **jean waves**
An outdoor office.....how perfect. I hope everyone is on the mend.
sending endless healing energy to you, deb, and all the critters.
I love the ingenuous office and the frog! Two photos I didn't expect to see.
I hope your pets are soon at full health again.
I told you I lurk, I hover, and lo, you found me.
I've missed you too....
What a great little update on how one can keep up.
Gotta' love it! Hope Sonata's well soon.
CUTE frog.
As a guy, I hafta' ask - what's the blue painter's tape for? Is that part of the office enginuity?
I hope all your beautiful critters are doing better now.....
I loved the photo of the little frog, even though we are so infested with the tiny 'coqui' frogs to make you hate frogs forever!
As you, I haven't been in Gather much lately and am trying to catch up a bit...
Be well!
I give up - I was replying to each comment indiviually and most of the got eaten. I'm not up for repeating it. Thanks everyone. It has been nice to work down at the pasture but I am hoping that the reason for it clears up soon. Sonata is still not sound but is so much better than she was.
And the tape acted as a cup holder for awhile :)
Oh T...I'm so sorry to hear your horsie babies were sick, and so glad to hear they're better!!
I love your office view...I want one like that ;-) In the fall and early spring when it's cool, I tend to work out on our screened in back porch when I'm writing...love to hear those frogs and crickets serenade me.
