We've had a lot of rain in the past week or so, so right now my flower beds are looking very lush. I don't think they'll look this good once the heat of summer beats down on them, especially if we don't continue to get a lot of rain.
This is my double impatien. I absolutely love it because it looks like tiny roses. I buy one of these every year for my front porch.

I couldn't resist buying this impatien this year. The flowers are striped and look almost like those peppermint candies. It hasn't gotten very full yet, but I expect that it will before long.

This is the flower bed under my weeping cherry tree. It has a few hostas, some bleeding hearts, spiderwort, foxglove, and my pink japanese anemone, which isn't in bloom yet. This is right next to my patio, so it's one of my favorite spots.

This is one of my peonies along the back fence.

My back fence is lined with peonies and other perennials. The peonies are so full and lush right now that you can't see the other perennials. But I have some delphinium, coral bells, lilies, and lots of other perennials in between and in front of the peonies. The other perennials become more obvious once they are in bloom and the peonies have finished blooming.

Behind my back fence there is a utility easement and then a hill that is a railroad easement. It's not my property, but since I have to look at it I mow the lawn and have planted some myrtle, lily-of-the-valley, and other groundcover on the hill and I put a sandstone border at the base of the hill. Much nicer to look at than the weed patch that was there when I moved in. I don't know who was back there in the winter, but I found a toy from "Toy Story" in my birdbath early this spring.

Just to show how much things have grown in the past month with all the rain, this is a shot from early May when I was seeing my first signs of grown. Even the hill behind the fence looked pretty barren in this picture. And now the bed is filled with a peony and the hill is awash in lily-of-the-valley.

I just bought a bunch of perennials over the weekend that I need to plant. So I'm sure there will be another tour of my garden when I figure out what needs to be rearranged so I can find room for everything.
