An Introduction
We call it our very own 'Garden of Paradise' which is set on a lush green acre of land in Melbourne, Australia.

My partner Peter and I moved here nearly three years ago during springtime and the whole property was simply bursting with colour.

We both fell in love with the garden the moment we saw it.

On our first inspection of the house and property we were told by the real-estate agent that the previous owner had operated a nursery from here for many years.

He and his wife reluctantly had to sell up and move into a more managable abode due to medical reasons. The husband of the couple, an elderly gentleman, wasn't able to maintain the nursery and garden for a few years after he suffered a heart attack.

Most days I wander around the property taking photos' of the many wonderful flowers that pop up, grow and bloom around me. Consequently after three years of doing this, I now have over 3,000 (at last count) photos of flowers and the garden.

Being a hoarder by nature (I take after my father on this one ... thanks Dad) I was boggled as to what to do with them all. After much thought over the last few weeks I have decided to 'blog them' and share.

I have been researching, learning and gathering information about flowers, shrubs and trees for the last 12 months. Before moving here I didn't know the first thing about them and gardening was never on my list of things to learn and do, so as you can imagine it has been a major task, but I am learning lots and having fun.

Hopefully the articles and photo's I post will be both interesting and informative to other lovers of nature and avid gardeners alike. Click on the photo's at the top right hand corner for more information about them.
Here are some photo's and if anyone would like to see more of our garden check out my photo sets here at My Flickr

Hope you enjoyed wandering through our special garden of paradise.
Cheers
Chrissy

I'd really love to see the full-sized photos in your article. To do that, you just need to click at each picture from the gallery below your publishing editor to open the picture and then drag it to the area of choice in the article.
Thanks for sharing!
I'll be looking for more pictures later!
I am passionate about my garden too and write about it all the time. Gardening was the reason I started photographing and like you I'm still in the learning process.
Loved all the shots.
Happy to meet you all and will endevour to scoot around and visit your profiles soon. It's been a busy weekend so far ... Peter and I are supposed to go out tommorrow (Sunday here) .. but all I want to do is sit at my pc and wander around here in Gather for the day :)
When I roam through the garden I often think of the couple that put so much hard work, not mention love sweat and tears into it. Peter and I definately appreciate the magnificent garden we see everyday.
I am currently making a slideshow of all the beautiful flowers and the gardens around the property to send to the previous owners. I'm sure they would love to see how perhaps their old 'Garden of Paradise' is looking now.
We hear they are both fairly well and live a few hours away so I will be sending them a dvd. I am yet to find the right music to go with it though.
Cheers Aaron
Making a CD for the previous owners is such a lovely and sweet idea, what a nice person you are. Maybe classic piano or violin to accompany the pics?
If you get a chance I'd suggest looking at my secret garden, the garden color and the spring garden article of mine.
The easiest way to view Chrissy is to - click on someone's icon and and once you read one of their articles - at the bottom right side - under the comments - click on view all.
That will give you a list of that persons articles.
And another tip
(because I didn't realize that either and couldn't even find my own articles)
It will give you a page with articles and then an ad and you think that's all there is
Scroll past the adds there will be more and look for how many pages of articles they have to see all titles.
I've only been active on gather since March, but I find it fun, entertaining and addictive. I've started to get into some unfamiliar territory too and I find I like it.
Have a great weekend!
Very Pretty!
Cheers Jules .. I'll go check it out.
Thankyou once again Duckie. I have redone all of my articles and they look much better now.
Cheers Larry.
Diana ... 'Yes' to your question Diana ... we would still have been enchanted by the property .. there are small areas amongst the trees, many bushes and creeping vines here where you feel like you are walking through a rainforest especially on some of the misty mornings we get here in winter.
thank you for taking us to your beautiful garden... Blessings to you both...
