This happened yesterday in my hometown of Santa Rosa in Northern California.
Since it was such a nice day here yesterday, an 84 year-old former paratrooper and veteran of two wars decided to walk home with his two bags of groceries instead of taking the bus as he usually did when he was approached by a teenaged boy weilding a 5-inch knife.
According to the Vet the would-be attacker said, "Gimme yer wallet, old man, or I'll stick ya with this knife."
His response would have done any military man proud...
He told the kid, "Listen here, I was a Marine in WWII and Korea and, unless you've got a .38 or a .45 in your belt, don't try it!" At which point, he set his grocery bags down on the sidewalk. The young man stepped toward him and he kicked his young would-be assailant in the groin.
The ex-Marine then picked his groceries back up and walked off leaving his young attacker writhing on the ground.
(Do ya just LOVE this guy, or WHAT??!!)
SEMPER FI! :^D
