I just got back from a trip with three of my grandchildren to visit another one of my grandchildren and to celebrate her birthday. We had a pleasant drive across Washington State admiring fLOWers in gardens, wheat being harvested, other fields lying falLOW, and some charming little bungaLOWs in the Cascade Mountains. Fortunately, this time of year I don't have to watch out for mudfLOWs or snowpLOWs. I don't enjoy that aspect of travel in the winter.
We arrived in good time and went out to dinner with my son and his daughter. There was a good salad bar, so we got some fLOWerettes of caulifLOWer to dip in ranch sauce. Liam, my 4-year-old grandson, wanted a swalLOWof my soda but I knew better than to alLOWthat. He is famous for backfLOWs into your drink. He is a little felLOWwho loves to cLOWn around but I don’t need backfLOW! When our pizza got served, we had to belLOW for everyone to come to the table as this place provided free video games!
Later we settled into our hotel and had to decide who would be bedfelLOWs. Then we all went swimming. Liam had to check out everything along the way, so we were sLOWgetting anywhere. When it was finally time to relax on my pilLOW, all three kids decided they were hungry. Some marshmalLOWs would taste good but since we weren’t camping, we couldn’t make smores.
The next morning my four grandchildren and I went to a nearby arboretum. There were sunfLOWers, some wilLOW trees that provided welcome shade and several lovely cornfLOWers. I enjoyed all the fLOWers but the kids were mostly interested in folLOWing each other all around the area, climbing above and beLOWvarious displays.
After a while spent among fLOWerbeds, the kids were ready to offer me a month of their alLOWances if I would take them to the adjacent play area. Of course, grandmothers are always melLOWpeople, so I agreed.
We encountered one little playfelLOW, who seemed on a path to becoming a dictator. He wanted everyone to be his folLOWer and he was only four or five years old. I finally had to ask him to leave my kids alone as his behavior became overbLOWn and almost out of control.
We finished up the day with more good food and a melLOWtime at the pool. The next day we celebrated Madison’s fourth birthday with that well-known cLOWn – Chuck E Cheese.
All in all, the trip left me with a pleasant aftergLOW.
