Isabel greeted us with warm hugs. Rain pelted down upon her new green roof. Soon, a fire burned. The next morning, her gardens greeted us. Purple hyacinths, yellow daffodils and red tulips surrounded flowering peach and plum trees. There was no noise, no sirens, no traffic. We rejoiced. Our first evening was spent listening to the twangs of a local radio station, burning lots of candles amid the scents of rosemary in the iron kettle atop the hot Canadian woodstove. We walked outside to gaze at the waning full moon, white in a clear black sky. The fragrance of burning pinion pine and mountain cedar perfumed our dreams that night.
This morning, I raised the blinds. The lilacs were covered with a soft sheet of snow. Like silent rain, it fell upon yesterday's colors. It is a snowy Friday in the Great Basin. I love it. No, it's not what I expected but it's what I will enoy. Weather has no mercy on the wants of a creative person. If you can't paint outside, paint inside. Paint walls instead of canvas. If you get lazy, read. Watch a dollar store video on the laptop. Write a Gather article!
That is my world right now. Soon, I'll be snapping loads of pictures. It may take me a while to even publish these words. The pictures may come later. I miss all of you. What are you doing? Sometimes I can read what you write. Things move slowly. Life is full of surprises. May your day be a good one. Thank you. Salud.

Actually the money goes to the no kill shelter so I will buy for sure. Take care.
I'm dirty, sweaty, grimy, slimy, disheveled and unkempt. I'm happy as hell.
Beautifully written image of life in the Great Basin!
Cheers,

Since the latest Gather "update" on Wednesday evening, there have been a lot of glitches so you haven't missed much. Have fun!!!
Me? Well, I've just taken a homeade, from scratch chocolate cake out of the oven. Getting ready for dinner guests.
Salut!
You're hardly gone and we miss you already.
The producer in Bollywood said that my two stories are "brilliant"...his words not mine.
Relax dear. Forget everything and just enjoy. Salud. Fred
kisses all around.
If icon is you as a child, I have to tell it looks remarkably like a summer playmate I had long ago. Hilda Tolmack was her name and she was the daughter of a prestigious dentist in New York City. She was a child prodigy on the violin, and even before she was 12 years old, played second fiddle in a noted orchestra playing in the Catskill Mountains of New York State. I lost track of her during WWII, but I often think of her. I am sure she turned out to be an outstanding person.
Here in Zurich, after a crazy April that felt like the middle of summer, with temperatures way off and perfect blue skies and sunshine all month - very enjoyable but also strange - ; now temperatures dropped and a light drizzle fills the air. Good for nature; back to normal weather, maybe.
Too bad the drizzle coincided with the very day we purchased a bright red Vespa. But the next sunny period will come. I am sure.
Greetings to the Canadian greenery. Hajo
We made the crabbing trip this week and had a quite an adventure. I haven't had the time to write the many stories of the day. Today, my husband-in-law (my ex-wife's husband), my son, and I rescued a very important treasure chest. We drove to McComb, MS and picked up a 1978 Ford Pick-Up that belonged to my father. He purchased the truck in 1977. I pitched in a portion of my weekly paycheck from McDonald's to help him make the down-payment. It was the first "new" vehicle he ever purchased. He purchased a new truck about ten years ago and this truck was out of my reach (very x 23 long story) until today. I have know clue how I will finance the restoration. Nonetheless, I now have the chance.
