Hello Gather community,
I am so fired up about my new show with Borders and wanted to take the time to thank you for watching the show and invite you to PLEASE reach out and tell us what you think!
If you haven't had a chance to view it yet, you can find it at http://www.bordersmedia.com/melrobbins/
The first few episodes should give you a flavor for what this show is about...but the truth is we will consistently be exploring new ideas, chasing down new advice and tightening up and tweaking the format. Future episodes will feature much specific advice from me to help you change your life and get what you want - as well as some interviews with great authors and celebrities - Robin Roberts - co-anchor for Good Morning America, and Mandy Moore - singer/actor, are in the queue!
I desperately want to hear your comments, advice, feedback, suggestions, quagmires, problems, etc. so we can tailor upcoming episodes to address the topics and problems that have you stumped and get you the advice you need.
And if you want to be on the show to tell your story - CONTACT US, EMAIL US YOUR VIDEO, EMAIL US YOUR STORY OR QUESTION.
I also wanted to take a moment to just introduce myself and tell you a little bit about who I am and how I go to do such a cool project.
I am not a therapist. I am not a crunchy, self-help guru who invents a touchy-feely formula for what amounts to "just get your shit together." And I don't have a book to sell you at the moment.
I am a no-nonsense, super smart person who's gotten a lot of attention and cash for the advice I give to Fortune 500 CEO's, professional athletes, burnt-out rock stars, mom's next door, insurance salesmen and everyday people just like you.
I host a daily call-in advice show on Sirius Satellite/Lime Radio 114 have several television gigs cooking, and now am proud to host Advice for Living with Borders.. Everything I do has one theme - helping people cut through the frustration and the BS. that clouds their life to achieve their dreams and be fulfilled.
Basically, I'm an expert at getting people "unstuck." Helping people move forward. Fixing problems - and having a laugh, or two along the way. I'm also a happily married mother of three, entrepreneur, lawyer, ivy-league educated, x-dot.com executive, marathon runner, yoga addict, fly-fishing fanatic, shoe freak, jewelry nut, gossip-magazine page turner, type-A, part big-city, part-bourbon drinking mid-western gal.
I also know what it's like to be "stuck." At a point in my life when I was really happy, my husband quit his job and moved us from Manhattan to Boston to get his MBA. I spent the next year practicing law in a firm - boring - then took an executive position with a dot.com, then another, then got fired, then jumped to advertising, had a few babies, took on a big mortgage, and then it hit me - I was stuck, in a job I hated with all kinds of reasons why I couldn't change, and blaming my husband for half of them.
I talked a good game about wanting to change but I didn't. I was too busy bitching about my husband, money, time, etc. I became a master at using all of these circumstances to stay "stuck."
Truth is, there was nothing wrong with my life. I didn't need therapy. I just needed good advice, a kick in the ass and some courage to execute it. At various points in our lives, we all find ourselves stuck in some way or another...that was mine.
Since then, I got the advice and ass kicking and overcame the stupid self-imposed obstacles that I had imposed. I'm now considered one of the top business and life coaches in America.
This brings me full circle as to why I am doing this show with Borders -I love helping people get unstuck and live out their dreams and I give damn good advice. So send in your questions about your relationship, your job, your body, your parents, your negativity, anything at all...and I'll let it rip. I guess you could say, I'm the Dear Abby of our generation - only this isn't your mother's self-help.... :-)
