A simple toast, a simple rhyme
A premature thought unwinds
And as it lengthens, coils, or projects
Holding strand, fables not told yet
In the Hinterlands: Do they exist
Like scenes on a card: Season's wish
ASAP with glee, a cup of tea,
Hot chocolate or a coffee
Hear the postman come, dogs soon run
The clock says you're late for the station
Yet ideally you skip along
And maybe break out in a song
That was sung in a musical
Can you imagine each place
A voice hued, eyelid emotions shaded
With a popcorn box for your embraces
So the night in gracious moonlight
Clouds silhouetted by star light
A park bench holds fond memories
But now a leaf solitary sits
In wonder listening to the wind
And the cool breezes tingle
People here and there and those dear
A simple conversation
Maybe a laugh, not meant to be
Breaks the ice of eternity
And it's nice to have caring friends
So from blue to gray sky dawning
Give thanks, with no time for idle hands
For the breath of life is a mission
Every second, every minute sketches
Your bravado from a center stage
To share your smile; don't dare erase it
As you drift past horizon deep:
Would you like a spot of tea?

These lines: "Maybe a laugh, not meant to be
Breaks the ice of eternity" you have expressed what I so often feel. I must leave for the VA, but I would love to have some tea this afternoon! I simply love tea.........picked up some yummy teas in China.
In your company, my dear friend, most certainly! ;-) Just imagine us Gather members from all around the world, from all ways of life, coming together in a quiet place.. enjoying light breeze, friendly chat, and, of course, tea! ;-)
Blessings and best wishes - S.
Yes, I would definitely like a cup!
Lady Raven, That is a warm feeling.
Tracy, Kismet!
"A spot of love on his apron, "Tea?"
He asks
A blue sky pretends it does not need
tannin, a taste lingers warmly
on my friendship's tongue"
Sorry I quipped in but I am going to elaborate this.
"Breaks the ice of eternity". It's refreshing to return to Gather and to read your words.
Would make an ideal day for me.
I would read your words
Then hear them spoken
And leave you with
A loving token
my admiration
And ain't life just like the cinemas?
or is it life that imitates art time and time again..?
I enjoyed this light hearted and personally ,whimsical poem..
i hope you get my drift..
the common yet taken for granted comforts of our lives not tinged or touched with the negatives that invariably visit all..
ok..gonna get the pot on..
coffee,Bill..just coffee
i'm talkin' the beverage..no not turkey soup..:)
I really like this one, William! Thank you!
Sheila, Is the bottle empty yet?

Lovely verse. I enjoyed it.
Would it be just you and me
Love your poem William, look it is October 1st already, September has slipped away, and now we head to something else, I guess Halloween is next, but I am taking my time getting there, goodnight William
You'd like it in a cup with me?
You'd wear your cardigan and fig leaf?
And I'd dress like Little Bo-Peep?
So, sure I'll have a spot of tea,
made from berrys or a tree.
Maybe two cups from that leaf?
Uh oh, I won't peek!
Sorry, read your taglines, couldn't help it. Love your poems, William and by the way, you will always be a teacher.

What a lovely invitation to tea. I will have some but hope you have a diet Pepsi for a chaser!
I was reading sheila h's comment and thought, "What is a 'swet'"? Glad she came back to clarify that she had no idea WHAT it was! I think she had something else in her sasparilla!
