Dark Meat better then White Meat?
I read a recent article that provided some facts about turkey and I found them very interesting and had to share them. First the fat content per ounce is double in dark meat which sounds like a huge amount. There is only 2 grams of fat per ounce of skinless dark meat verses 1 gram of fat in skinless white meat. The myth is true on fat but the caloric difference is even smaller. The same ounce of dark meat contains about 50 calories and 46 calories for the white meat.
S o far you might be questioning why I consider dark meat better and that is its healthier overall because it contains more iron, zinc, riboflavin, thiamine, and vitamins B6 and B12. So considering nutritional value dark meat to me is more favorable even though it has a few more calories and fat. I also think it might be a way to get rid of the dark meat by using some selective facts at the table and less left overs later.Happy Thanksgiving!
