I have been very irritated by some fellow gather people. But I blocked them completely so I am free from them. I try to avoid the crap right now due to my fibro and not needing stress.

Yes, a few times... one of which in particular stands out more in my mind than others. One of my connections once left a rude comment on a post written by a connection of mine about a particular health condition. The comments blamed the symptoms of the condition and the effects of those symptoms on the sufferers of the condition. Being one of those sufferers, I wrote replied to the comment. The person left a non-apology "apology" which further blamed the sufferers of the health condition for the condition's symptoms... of course the discussion evolved into an argument in which I did the one thing I normally work the hardest to avoid - after fielding several replies which continued blaming sufferers of the condition for the symptoms we suffer, including some replies which carried false negative assumptions about my own experience with the illness, I verbally blasted the guy.
Other people ended up offended by his remarks, as well. The whole thing ended up inspiring me to write a post about my own experiences with the illness... and that post ended up being the subject of a misunderstanding with yet another connection, who thought it was a political article rather than a blog about my own life.
Sometimes, I feel like I'm on a playground full of kids instead of in an online forum for adults.

Oh, yeah... almost forgot... the little drama over my blog on my experience with that particular health condition inspired me to get my butt moving on another post I'd been composing on the subject of Gather Groups and how group owners handle group titles, descriptions, acceptable content, content labeling, etc. with regards to each group's criteria for publishing, and how owners handle rejection of material submitted to their groups. (Some owners get really rude when rejecting content, and I've run across a number of them who don't actually read the body of the content before deciding to accept or reject, and end up rejecting content which fits their stated criteria because they've misinterpreted the title as belonging to something that doesn't.)

Yes, by two of them actually. I just take note and move on - these people are not worth my time and energy!

You betcha. I wish that Gather had a way for everyone EXCEPT those who intentionally flag or argue (FOREVER!) could read our posts, and the others be blocked from reading or commenting on our posts.

After reading LOADS of articles on both sides of the fence over the weekend, first I got angry with people, then I laughed to myself, "Thank goodness I'm not the karma police. It's not my problem." The anger bubble burst and I went back to reading the posts of people I enjoy, whether I share their views or not. It's like a toddler throwing a tantrum; sooner or later, they will exhaust themselves and find something new to do.

Hi Amy. No, I think I have been flagged maybe once but it was lifted really fast. I too have seen people who do flag get mad when they get flagged. I guess it is a matter of perspective on who is right and wrong.

I think it is crucial to have differences of opinion. And talking to understand benefits everyone.

Today I was Gathering with someone who, at first, did not seem like someone worthy of my time (yeah, I actually did just say that!) but who turned out to be a very good person. We just disagreed on some issues. It doesn't make either of us bad.

And no flags were thrown. Some people can be adults.

No I have not. I have no power over what other gather members post.

dear Karma has away of coming back on the people who do rotten things to people i have had all kinds of problems here but i still go on i have some awesome friends here and that is what keeps me here alot....they will get theirs

Since joining Gather a few years ago, I've only clicked on the "Report this as potentially inappropriate" once. It had to do with a filthy picture of naked children. I don't know what came of it. I reported it and forgot about it.

Personally, I think that we are grown adults who can move on to other material when we don't like something. We can state our opinion or thoughts in a comment. That is how the give and take of Gather works. Unfortunately, there are people who delight in causing stress for others. These are the people who fail to show regard for others in line at the grocery store or by using their turn signals when driving, for example. Gather can't police these people off the site. So, I recommend ignoring those who truly seem more interested in winning the message rather than an exchange of ideas. But, I have to admit that I don't always practice what I preach. Sometimes I just can't resist calling ignorance for what it is.

Yes I have been flagged twice in the last week or so. Once from gather and one by a troll. I got three times as many points on those two threads as I get on my other threads most of it was vile. But I don't care what the vile people think.

Not that I know of. If there is a post with which I desagree I just move on and don't comment. Everyone has a right to their opinion and I can't control what they say.

I would think that people who thrive on drama here because it is a normal part of their life. We are all going to have times when someone pushes our buttons...today mine got pushed .....luckily the person who did doesnt live in my neighborhood, I am not friends with, and I will stay away from their post...unless it interest me, bygones are bygones.
Freedom isnt free....we end up paying for it one way or another.

hopefully she'll stop doing it to you now, since she now knows what it feels like to deal with it.

Oh I've got one now. This Capt. Reads-a-lot misread what I wrote. When I pointed it out he has come on all the stronger. Now he's spamming others' articles so he can leave a nasty comment about me right where I post a comment. Actually I've been getting a kick out of how far he'll go to get my attention. Pretty pathetic, huh?

I think I accidentally flagged myself once, LOL. I do not get on here enough for others to flag.

Heck I was so frustrated a few times when my rating on pictures of my dogs went down to ONE... I said to hell with it and turned my rating off.

I've never been flagged; my posts probably put people to sleep. I turn off the ratings; they mean nothing to me, whether good or bad.

Insofar as being irked by another member, there have been members who have gotten on the contentious side with me, but somehow it never escalated to a serious level. I guess I've just been lucky in that regard.

There is a group on here who goes around to people and does this. This group is of three people all friends. They did this to a friend of mine on here and harassed her over and over. These same people also did this to another member I know on here. They rarely post now if at all.

Yes. And I've received some email from the trolls, each line dusted heavily with explicatives.

Of course I copy and pasted these emails into a post.

Which was flagged. Then that flagger sent me a hate email.

Which I posted on Gather and her other blog comments. Along with her buddy troll's nasty email.

Finally, they gave up. And I was just starting to have fun with them...I was just going to pull their little legs off...or burn them with a magnifying glass.

.....and here's the bright side. It's like the song, "Let's give'em something to talk about." Apprently your articles are either ruffling someone's feathers and hitting a nerve or making someone envious that they couldn't write it themselves. Either way, you struck a nerve and WOW! Good for you!

So what if they flagged you? They inadvertantly brought attention to your article - right? They actually helped you while trying to harm you. It backfired in their face. That's usually the way it works, though.

And like you said, "karma". What goes around comes around. It's just a fact of life. There are weasles and there are trolls and I think they all live together in their own messy, backstabbing little world.

No, not yet. But I am seeing that it might happen soon. I have tried not to comment rude or any way that would get people mad, but sometimes people need to be told off. And I am not good at keeping quiet.
