It's the 4th of July, a time when I should be and usually am with my family ... watching fireworks. Instead, I'm home alone with my cat.
This morning I got the kids ready and met my sister-in-law at her mom's house and we walked over to the center of town where a parade was. We all had fun but it was HOT. I took plenty of water and we stood in the shade, but the walk over there was a lot further away than I thought it would be. After the parade was over, we walked over to the park where they had a few stands and picked the only thing available to eat - hotdogs.
There was also Gatorade so I made sure to drink one of those, but I was already feeling really dizzy before we started the walk home. It felt like MILES on the way back to Cicely's mom house and by the time we made it there, I was blacking out. Thankfully their house is air-conditioned so we spent quite awhile there cooling down and drinking water.
I made the drive home but by the time I got out of the truck I felt like a goner. I got the kids inside and my husband was home at this point so I made a few trips to the bathroom to puke. I hate puking, especially when it's something like hotdogs!
I layed down on my bed for about 30 minutes with an ice pack on my head hoping my headache would go away but it never did. When my husband saw me stumbling out of the bedroom he finally asked me if I was sure I wanted to go to our friend's house an hour away for the BBQ we had planned. I finally started crying and told him I couldn't and I felt so bad because I felt like I was letting the family down!
He decided to go without me, which was fine with me... so as soon as they left I made myself a chicken & brocolli hot pocket, ate it and promptly threw it back up. Gross. I was able to take a nap and got up about 8:00pm to open up the windows to let the cool air come in from outside. We don't have air conditioning here so it's been steady at 82 in the house all day -- it's starting to cool down some now that I opened the windows up so I'm hoping it will help my headache and nausea.
I just ate a chicken cup of noodles and yes, promptly ran into the bathroom! I don't when I'll be able to hold anything down or when my headache will go away but the worst part is sitting here all alone while my family is enjoying the 4th of July holiday without me.

How's THAT for a pity party? :O)
next time you feel like that put a cold wash rag around your neck it will cool you down a lot faster than an ice pac on your head. when its hot and I do yard work the first thing I do is pin one around my neck before heading out side or if I cant sleep due to heat I will do it and go to bed youd be amazed how much it helps. Id be having a pity party too sounds like it really sucked
That isn't a fun way to spend the 4th! I hope your able to keep something down soon and feeling better soon.
Oh faith! I am so sorry you are sick! I am bummed out because I am working and missed the fireworks. That is 2 year in a row I have worked so others could go see them.
I feel you on the no AC. We might as well not have it as old and crappy as ours is. Barely cools it to 80 some days.
I live on jello when I get that sick from being hot. Just simply thinking about hot food after being so hot makes me heave.
Hope you feel better. There's always next year or maybe get ahold of some mark down fireworks and have your own party :0)
I hope you feel better soon! Myhusband worked today, so I did not do anything exciting besides buy groceries.
We had no guest at all today. Daughter house sitting, middle son having his own party with friends and family in Houston, oldest in Florida, But she did write me a Gatherversary article. The little birdie that comes to the cafe.
hope you are feeling better now
Awww- So was it the sun or the hot dog?
I think the 4th is one of those difficult holidays if you're alone. It would have been easier if your husband should have eshewed the party & stayed with you. You simply have to train men to do things like that... ;) Hope you feel much better soon.
I'm sorry to hear that. I hope you feel better soon.
I don't do too well in the heat. I hope your headache improved. Sorry you were bummed out about being alone...at least you had the cat.
Oh gosh, I'm so sorry you got sick and couldn't celebrate with your family and friends! That is a big huge bummer! Take care of yourself, drink plenty of fluids (if you can keep them down) and rest! I hope you feel better soon.
Poor Faith! Did you get some heat stroke from being out in the heat? How are you feeling so far today?
That doesn't sound good! Do you always react like that to the heat? I know I have issues with low blood pressure and heat makes it drop (and I see spots). When I'm in the heat a lot, I have to be careful to eat salty things and drink a ton of water so my BP doesn't drop.
Yuck yuck yuck. I am so sorry you are or were feeling so terrible. I wanted to go to the bed races in Mill City, but ended up staying home. We just did small fireworks here with the kids, which was alright because Isabella seems to be terribly scared of the noise.
Oh Faithy, I'm so sorry! Are you feeling any better today? I sure hope so!
love you :~)
I'm sorry you were all alone. I hope you are feeling better today.
Sounds like heat/sunstroke to me - which is serious and needs HUGE amounts of water and rest and cool temps to recover from - and may need a doctor´s help...
Sure hope you're feeling better today.
Feel better soon!
Sorry your feel bad was hanging out! Yuck! I loves ya!
Gosh darn it, Krissy, that is hilarious!
"Sorry your feel bad was hanging out'
LOL
Are you feeling better? I sure hope so, and there will be other fireworks. You have to be careful, Faith, we want you healthy!
Oh my, I'm sooooo sorry to hear that you were sick on the 4th of July and then left home alone.....what a bummer!!!!! Hope you're feeling much better, and take good care of yourself!!!
Hay it is all my fault for having her walk so far in the heat. I just don't realize health conditions like I should. Don't get me wrong I love Faith she is my sister I never had and had no intention of getting her so heated up. I should have called for my mom to pick us up. Next time, if there is....drive as close as we can to park.
You're so cute, Cicely! This wasn't your fault, I'm sorry you feel so bad... it's just me - it would have happened no matter who I was with, LOL. I love you too!
Yes, next time let's park as close as possible to the parade... can't wait for next year, it was fun!
