I know this has probably been answered somewhere at some point of time, but I did a search and still didn't find a definite answer. Do I get points for viewing pictures whether I leave a comment or not? What about slideshows? Do you get points for just 1 viewing, or for every picture in the slideshow? What if I click on each individual photo in the slide show. Do we get points for that? When I see someone has posted a picture, I usually view that picture and any others they have posted on their profile. I may not leave a comment for all, but I do view most! Is it the same for posts also? Do we get points for viewing the post? Or do we have to leave a comment? What if someone views my posts or pics. Do I get points for that? Sorry for my confusion at all this, but I want to make sure if I'm viewing posts & pics we are both getting credit for them! I also wanted to say a real quick THANK YOU to all those who have added me as a friend, or answered one of my bazillion questions.

Some will say that rating gets no points, but I've found that if I open items with out rating them, I get a bit lower points than when I rate items.
All of that is, of course, theoretical, as Gather will not release the information on how exactly points are earned. I also believe that they change things around from time to time, to keep people on their toes. For instance, one month, you might get better earnings from posting and viewing pictures. Another month, it might be articles.
My suggestion for earning points? Be active here as often as you can- interact with the people on the site, post original content, and view, comment, and rate things. The more active you are, the better your earnings are.
To ensure 'credit' (and Gather Points) for your visit, you must view the photo individually on the photo display page. You can then choose a photo from the carousel above the current photo to navigate to any other photo in the album.
Only viewing album photos in this way will generate a page view and Gather Points™ for you and the member publishing the photo.
As others have inferred above, the more you analyze what generates points and what doesn't, the less fun you're likely to have. This ultimately will reduce your point earning potential in the community.
If you have any questions about the above, or need additional information, please post a comment on any daily HelpCenter post (link below).
