Baby registry on walmart.com is just staring at me. Last year I made a BIG one, mainly of stuff that I didnt even need, and no one ever looked at that one anyways. I got about halfway thru mine when my mom told me I probably wont even have a baby shower this year, and i thought probably not because of other things going on in the family, everyone's busy with other big plans... (wedding, graduations, etc) so now i just think, what's the point of even making one this year? I had planned on making a realistic one this year (and was doing a great job of it), one of just things I needed because I already have so much crap, lol. That's my downer of the night... *sigh*

Every baby deserves a shower. I've had relatives who hold big parties for the first child, and nothing for the second, third, fourth...

As the youngest child in my own family, sometimes I can't help but wonder.

For me the shower is not about the gifts, it's about celebrating every new life.
It never hurts to make one, then you can at least take items off as you get them...either from others or buying them yourself.

Well I guess if you are going to do one, do it on things you really need. Diapers, wipes, clothes. Whatever you are needing.

I have a baby shower with each kid, even if it is small, it is nice to have one.

hm... true :) and i loved my shower last year because I had fun, and I was in the spotlight with baby. I always love things where i'm in the spotlight, i just love attention, lol.

Clothing is taken care of, since it is another little boy, lol. I still have brand new clothes that Bryan never wore cuz he grew out of a bunch really soon!

but that doesnt stop my mom from buying little sleepers on sale, she cant stand to pass up a good bargin. she got 2 idenical packs of onzees cuz they were buy 2 for 10 at Biglots, and the same ones were 11 bucks at walmart. we already had them, and she bought 2 more! but you know little boys, their aim is off when the diaper is off, lol. they sure can go thru clothes though.

I would make one anyways, and just make it a more practical list. You can mark stuff off as you buy it, or if you have friends/family that want to get you stuff, you have it ready rather than being unprepared. Congratulations!
I like what Leah said! Every baby deserves a shower because it is a celebration of a new life. I've heard before about not giving them for the 2nd, 3rd, etc. but I always thought was unfair.

Quite often, 2nd baby's are not given a shower, especially when so close to the first child. You might consider a "Welcome Baby" party for after the baby comes. You can invite anyone you want, but don't include registry information. That way, people won't feel pressured to bring a gift. Showers, typically, are for first time parents, or people who are becoming parents again after a long time.
To clarify, the term "Shower" for the name of the event comes from "Showering the Parents/Bride with gifts", which is why "Welcome Baby" parties are becoming so popular with people.

It's warm down there- once the baby is about a month old, have a BBQ, and invite people. If they ask, tell give them a small list of essential items you could use- diapers, wipes, formula, larger clothing, heck- even an hour or two of free babysitting!

lol, the funny thing is, when the baby is about 3 weeks old its family reunion time, so the BBQ is planned! lol. And they baby sit for free anyways... wait, i usually have to buy him a mountain dew, but my cousin loves to spend time with Bryan. (and i dont mind either since he helped raise me too)

I was given a shower for my first child but not any for the ones that follow. I guess the theory is you only need it for the first baby but they are nice to have. Sort of a celebration of the coming baby.

Yeah, and there's a wedding at the end of this month and then the week i'm having the baby there's 2 grand kids graduating... ah well, lol.

I want to see all kinds of pix of that baby, just like you had of Bryan, because all babies are special, because they come from God. So it's the second one, does that mean it takes a back seat to the first one? No, because it is a unique child, and it's just as special.

I'm sorry you're feeling down. I had a shower for my twins, none for #3 (he came 13 months after the twins) and then I had two showers for #4 who was my first girl. If someone tries to throw me a shower this time I'm going to throttle them. I just want peace! lol! Plus, being super crunchy, I won't use half of what people would buy anyway.
