Church Vs. Day Care

Before my husband got heads-down in studying, he and I had been looking for a suitable church around our house. I am not Christian, but I am open-minded. I actually really enjoyed the service at a church my husband's family went to, but it was too far away (20 miles?).

So we searched online for churches in the area, and attended their service (once for each). So far, we haven't found one that really "spoke to us". I really wished the one we like was closer.

I feel that looking for the right church is like looking for the right day care. We need a place where we can trust and where our ideas match. There are so many choices around and we have to go to each and find the right fit. And in some cases, the one that seemed to be the right fit turned out to be the wrong fit, and then the search goes on again.

I would continue going to the one your husband's family goes to. Twenty miles isn't much of a drive, but, then, I live in a rural area where you have to drive for quite a bit to get to anything.

I hope you find what you are looiking for. Find one that makes you feel welcomed when you walk in the door. Hate churches where you walk in the door and they don't even say hello to you.

Heather - I know what you are saying, but in my area, everything in my life is within 2 miles.... So I am spoiled.

It's a major decision. My husband and I are still grappling with it and now our decision impacts our children. Keep visiting to churches and I know you will find what you're looking for. In the meantime, you're congregating and praying which is really important.

and that is a really good analogy, that looking for a church is like looking for a daycare. They are both places that you place so much trust in and hope for your future.
