Do writers like to talk? Do talkers like to write? I love to talk and write! I always have time to talk but I don't always have time to write. Talking I can do while I'm writing, and writing while I'm talking as long as there is some way to put the words down whether pen and paper or pc notepad. But what about the times when I can talk and would like to put it into writing? That's when I find myself wanting a voice recorder. I can talk and talk and talk, and then let the device and software put my words into print. I often find myself driving here and there for hours on end, alone in the car or with my 3 year old in tow who is usually asleep or watching a movie. This is my thinking time. My time to ponder issues or events in my life or just to come up with things I would like to write about. By the time I get the chance to put it all down in print, I've etiher forgotten what I was thinking about, or forgotten key points I wanted to remember.
I wonder if the great writers of our time were great talkers. I am a huge fan of Stephen King and have been told of people fortunate enough to have engaged in common conversation with him. I am envious. I would like to share a cup or two of coffee with this man in his own world, to me, that would be my moment to just listen!
As for the writers who don't like to talk, do you express yourself through your unspoken words? Do you hide your real self behind the print? For the talkers, could you ever stop talking long enough to put your words into print or is it faster just to have the proverbeal verbal diarrhea? (And why is that word so damn hard to spell?)

I can't think and write, while someone is in the room talking or listening to television.
But, hey, if my life depended on It, I might.
When I write, I have the luxury of taking my time, organizing my thoughts, and carefully choosing my words. I see that as the main difference between "writing" and "blogging". When I Blog it is more the "stream of consciousness" that you would get with your voice recorder.
Early one morning when I was in college, I awoke with a poem running though my mind. I quickly put pencil to paper so that I could capture the words. Unfortunately when I awoke, I could not read the scribbles that had seemed to be such perfect words to my dreaming mind. Similar to Arthur Sullivan's "The Lost Chord".
I admit to being a Talker, but I do sometimes take time to write.

As for wanting to get my words across verbally and live, I leave it up to my wife :D
