This is has been one of the best weekends that I have had in a LONG time. Our kids went to stay at their grandparents house in St Louis. That being said is enough in itself.
Friday night we went out to eat pizza with some friends of ours. However, the rest of that night is an off limits topic between my husband and myself. Just use your imagination and come up with something. It was a nice evening to ourselves just him and I catching up on our relationship that sometimes gets lost in the hustle and bustle of everyday life.
Saturday morning my husband slept in until almost noon. (He must have been tired out from the evening before. ha ha ha) I met with my girlfriends at the new chinese buffet here in town called "The Royal Garden." There were rows and rows of fabulous food where we literally stuffed ourselves to the guild. There was lots of girly gab and, of course, the tradition of reading the fortune cookies.....where you always add onto the end of it......IN BED. Mine read "you will have a very nice surprise soon." I was thinking to myself that I think I just did the night before!
Saturday afternoon my husband and I went on our yearly date to the H&R block for our taxes. We are very fortunate to be recieving quite of bit of money back. So we spent alot of time deciding what we will spend the money on and how much we will put into savings for an emergency. We decided that the kids need a trip to the dentist and hubby and me need new eyeglasses.
Saturday night I started looking around the house and noticing it was looking like a hurricane had went through it. There were toys everywhere, floors needing desperate attention, and the laundry piles were enough to make you wanna go and hide yourself in a hole in the back yard. Anyway, this is where the GEM of a husband comes in. I asked him if he wanted to get a movie, and he said, "No, not tonight. Tonight, I am going to give you an early Valentine present. I know you like the house to be clean, and I am going to help you clean it."--------yeah, I know. I was speechless.
My husband helped me for 3 hours Saturday night with HOUSEWORK. Can you believe that? Because I can't! He did 3 loads of laundry and folded/hung them and put them away. He cleaned out the entire closet in our bedroom and got it all organized. He cleaned off the stove for me with a Brillo pad. He took out all the trash. All the while he did this.... the television never came on once.
I was very impressed and to be honest, it was one of the sweetest and most thoughtful Valentine gifts I have ever recieved. My husband knows that keeping the house is a hard job, especially with two little ones that demolish the place on a daily basis. He also knows that I am a neat freak and it drives me bonkers. He chose something to do that wasn't expensive, but just gave me his time/hard work. We just put the country music on and enjoyed each others company. I don't need any big fancy jewels for Valentines day, I already have my GEM.

Also to top it all off. He went to meet my parents an hour away to pick up the kids. He told me that I am always the one going and picking them up. So I have been just playing on Gather. They should be pulling in the drive any time, so I keep watching out the window. I can't wait to hug my sweeties and see their little smiling faces!
