Homeade Gift ideas for christmas???? c'mon share your ideas!

what i do is i buy oversized tea cups and fill them with tea bags and chocolates then but them in a nice see through fabric bag and tie it at the top with a pretty bow.

oh i also like to knit scarves for people too

my sister in law knitted us all scarves one year! I don't know how to knit though!

hahah its not that hard... i dont really knit anymore because i realized no one wore the stuff i made =( lol. so i moved on to making my own little tea cup gift thing

this year i was planning on making ginger bread books and decorate them in the form of their family and pipe their names in them. then i would wrap them in that plastic stuff and add them along to the gift basket of sorts

I like the idea of a photo collage or scrapbook. I'm thinking of making a scrapbook as part of my sister's gift this year.

Is it already that time of year again where we need to start thinking of x-mas? Oh Lord help me!!!!

Scrapbooks always make a big hit - great ideas!

I've done scrapbooks, homemade cocoa or mocha latte mix w/ cups & stuff, I even embellished pillowcases one year. I may try embellished shirts for some of the women in my family this year...

i find that unless you have tons of pieces left over, scrapbooking is extremely expensive

yeah I thought the picture frame would be fun cause everyone need fridge magnets! What better thing then a picture magnet with your familys

scrapbookin is expensive but I have TONS of scrapbooking stuff! I could easily do that but I am really excited about the picture frames. What do you all think of the pictures frame magnets with pics in them of their families! I have many people to get gifts for!!like 10 at least!

haha yeah that is a nice idea but i know some people that dont put stuff on their fridge so it would work in my case but i could see why some people would love it. i love personal gifts like that. sadly i dont have lots of pictures of my family to do that with

I think that any gift that includes pictures of your family is an awesome idea. I like to give baked goods and homemade candy (fudge, divinity and peanut brittle) as gifts too. I've been shopping ebay for my Christmas presents this year. So far I've found t-shirts, a gorgeous Dooney & Bourke wristlet, a set of golf balls and a towel with the NY Yankees logo and a great assortment of candles (all brand new). I do like the idea of making gifts though, and plan to do some sewing and card making as well.

I think the fridge magnet thingy is a good idea too. I'm in the starting to think of Christmas mode too. Need to come up with tons of money for presents.

I got a calendar w/pics of all my neices & nephews last year and I smile every time I look at it. Plus, I've already gotten frames to put all the pics up when the year is done. You can find free programs online (you print double sided and use legal size paper, then assemble it), or you can also find ones online that you design, and then have them printed and sent to you. I think Staples might even have some deals on personalized calendars that are pretty economical. Definitely check out vistaprint.com - you can get some nice deals from them on calendars, business cards, personalized cards (I get the postcards for Christmas - cheaper to buy and cheaper to mail too). And scrapbooking is always a welcome gift too. Be careful with the magnets. Many people now have stainless steel appliances, and magnets don't stick to them (except on the sides).

Simple, hand sewn items are nice too. Take a pic and print it on that special paper that you can iron onto fabric. Apply it to the fabric, and make pillows as gifts.

Tiffany, I see you started a gazillion groups today. Why not start a group about making home made Christmas/Holiday crafts? I work full time and then do several things on a part time basis to make money, including crafts. My time is precious, and because of that, I have to be careful of what groups I join. I definitely would join a group about holiday crafts though!

I'm a huge fan of treats...fudge, cookies, peanut clusters, chocolate covered pretzels, etc. We usually make them for our hair dresser and a few friends of the family.

Cookies/brownies in a jar work too. They aren't the most original but they're tasty and can be made when ya don't have much time to mix them up.

One year for Christmas, I made a recipe book. Threw in all sorts of things...appetizers, desserts, drinks, soups, salads, and ethnic foods. Some of them were mine and others were family favorites. I just typed the recipes up on the computer, added some clipart, printed off one book and then photocopies the rest. Mine was quite large (50 pages or so), but you could easily make a small one if you have some free time.

My cousin is an arts and crafts fanatic when it comes to Christmas gifts. She took popsicle sticks and made a notepad holder for the fridge. It was magnetic and she stuck a tiny writing pad and pen in it. I can take a picture if anyone's interested.

I am going to make everyone a cookbook. Just need the recipes from the family that i asked for. :)

My sister in law done that last year! Asked certain quiestions from each person and made little articles about each person then put a recipe of our favortite dishes and of course many recipes of moms favorite dishes! She is very Artistic!

I can't share my ideas because then you might steal them and give them as gifts. :)

There are a ton I can think of but again since you're part of the family it wouldn't do much good to share.

Your idea is great as well as all those listed. I LOVE getting homemade gifts, especially ones with pictures. Unfortunately my family is not the kind to give or appreciate them. Look forward to seeing more craft give giving ideas!

I don't celebrate Christmas (I'm Jewish), but I've learned a thing or two from polyannas around the office, and of course Hanukkah (although Purim is when we give gifts as well). I try and tailor gifts to each person's taste. Picture frames are terrific for parents with kids - as well as those with grandchildren. I've also gotten oversized mugs from the dollar store and put plant cuttings in them for plant lovers (yes, they still exist!). I've also made lunch bags (a little tricky for the fancier ones), "mommy bags", wine cozies (quite easy), crafted personalized picture frames, made hair clips, photo collages, etc. I've also made treats, especially for kids. Sugar cookies for kids in fun faces and shapes, shortbread cookies and scones for adults. That's all I can think of right now. :P

I sure can Tiffany. I'll try to do it when I get home from work tomorrow. I'm getting out early (*happy dance*).
