There a few reasons you can receive more than 1 copy of the same message.
- If you are a member of groups that allow group messaging and the member sends group messages, you could receive it multiple times for each of those groups the message was sent to.
- If you are friends with the sender you could have received it again if it was sent to friends.
- Additionally, some members are encountering an error when sending messages and they resend the message to be sure it has reached the recipients. If anyone receives an error when sending a message please check the "sent" tab to see if the message has been sent. If the message is listed in the "sent" tab, it has successfully reached the recipients. This error will be fixed soon.
If you do not want to continue receiving messages from a member you can block messages from this member which will prevent both individual and group messages from this member reaching you.
Thanks for stopping by. There's a "Cool Committee" that headed up by Chuck McGuire. If you want to be included on the "Cool People" list you better be nice to Chuck.
If votes count, I vote for Janna. She's the coolest person here.
You should be nice to me anyway though :)
Anyone who used a Re-Animator icon is cool in my book.
(Lap dogs named "Miso"--not so cool.)
Will you send out a notice to everyone and list me with "Nice People"? If so, I can probably last at least a day.
COOL PEOPLE
I'm sure Chuck has made a note of these nominations and that some day I will be proclaimed one of Gather's "Cool People" in proclamation from the Gather Member Experience Team.
I have also been called "a sick, nasty, perverted woman" (by Clark Kent, no less), in case the committee in charge of that wants to pass my name along to the Gather Member Experience Team.
Unfortunately, Gather recently changed the formatting of their weekly newsletter and the online version is no longer devoid of user name. Prior to this latest iteration, members could share links to the newsletter and avoid this confusion.
I think that's a wonderful idea, and it's actually been proposed by many people in the past. Gather will implement an upgrade that focuses on groups in the not-too-distant future - hopefully by the end of the year. When we plan for that release, I am sure that this idea of creating "group sets" similar to friend sets will be considered. Thanks for stopping by!
