Mr. Bill who writes the travel column and lives in Lake Tahoe had an excellent article yesterday about the Lake Tahoe fires, along with photos.
a) Where's the winner for Thursday? I think you forgot to publish that one! Oops! :)
b) I adore Christine's kitten. He's totally precious and absolutely worthy of a win! However, I really don't think it got the most votes on Friday. Dan Tomkins sent out an email asking some of us to look at it at 8 PM on Saturday the 23rd, and before then, the little cutie hadn't gotten much attention. I'm just wondering what happened with the voting that day, that's all. :) Christine should absolutely get a win, but I also think it might be fair to award a second winner on that day since the votes don't seem to add up properly.
(And to those who are thinking I'm being selfish by asking, I didn't have anything anywhere near the top that day, so I'm only asking because I hate seeing inconsistencies in voting and in results. It's like the Mother's Day Contest - in which I was ROYALLY screwed - all over again. I don't want to see anyone else get the shoddy treatment I got. Oh, and Pam, tell Tom that I'm still awaiting a response to my email regarding that matter!)

I will post an update soon and there will be some follow-up articles as things progress. As Claudia mentioned, Lake Tahoe is a national treasure. It is one of the deepest lakes in the world and one of the most pristine bodies of water on earth in spite of the rough touch of the hands of man.
Btw ... most of those pics in the article I snapped from about a half mile away ... then I retreated to the safety of my loft which I have discovered is a lot closer, the way the eagle flies, to the fire ... I'm only about two miles away ... oh my! (-;

For a point of reference, this evening I have posted several photos of Tahoe, some I took just last week, that I was saving for an upcoming article ... but digital images recycle really well so they can be used later!
