Twas the night before halloween in the ole troll town
When something unusual among the trolls abounded

I wouldn't have believed it if I had not witnessed
That the troll town's own had developed a sickness.
I went to talk to this troll duo
But they were merely cut outs that merely looked cool

We went into the store looking for more
For some answers for what was in store

The little gnome that guarded the door
Told us to go home and nothing more

Inside the little bunny stood on it's legs, but said nothing
Not even the smallest something

The trolls inside weren't much more help
Though when I saw some of them I did give off a yelp (he was huge)

The trolls in the glass were in the loving mood
And when we tried to get their attention were rather rude

Then the sign explained it to me
They didn't want to be bothered, it was their plea

I have the answers of which you seek
I heard a voice by the window speak

Talk to the trolls, the wooden kind
They are sick, but they won't mind
We sought out the wooden trolls
With getting information as our primary goal
We came across one with wings as big as she
and she stood taller than me

I'm Tootsie the tooth fairy. Our town was once merry, but is now a place for the sick.
The haven't gotten me yet, those germs just can't stick!

On we went looking for more on out path
When we met a troll taking a bath.

Upon a closer look, I saw he too was sick.
I needed to know what made these trolls tick

Do you know what's making everyone ill?
You won't know that answer until you meet Sweet Swill.

Sweet Swill? I asked
But he had already started a new task.
I walked on wondering about what he'd said.
Was he right or just off in the head?

The next troll was covered in hair.
He just sat there giving me this blank stare.

The next two were a motley crew.

Do you know Sweet Swill?
The reply was something more than nill.

She's the one with the pig.
He said taking another swig.

Looking at how their noses had grown
I wonder if they weren't lie prone.
Thank you I called, not knowing much more than before
Surely someone had to know more.
I came across a troll of travel
Maybe this tale he could help to unravel

Only he knew nothing, just that he was not ill
And that he, too had never heard of Sweet Swill.

The gardener was watering his flowers with care.
If anyone would know, he'd know I declared!

The Gardener, too was ill.
I do know of Sweet Swill

She is the one with the pig
he said picking up a stray twig.
I looked around and saw another troll
And by it's feet something strolled

With his ice cream, camera and big fluffy hat
I saw it wasn't a pig, but a giant RAT!
Then there she was, I said with a thrill
The one with the pig - she had to be Sweet Swill!

I looked close to see if she, too was ill
I walked around her, she didn't speak until

I noticed that she too had become sick

I didn't mean it, she said with a kick

I didn't know little Squealer had become sick.
Now the town's tolls want to send us down the crick.
Give it time, I told her.
It's just a cold. Before you know it, this illness will be just a blur.

Your troll town will be back to how it was
Without needing time to take for a pause.
Where sleeping gnomes rest
Is where I feel lucky to have only been a guest.

Happy Halloween everyone. :) (these photos were taken by myself last fall, and I've held out on posting those essay until now) Tomorrow we will spend Halloween out there again with them.

Love your Photo essay
It's actually the troll capitol in real life. Google the trollway and you can read more about it.
Their slogan is Drink, Eat and be merry (crossed out) Grumpy. LOL
