I'm sorry you had such a bad experience.  Some folks have nothing better to do than troll. 

Crazyness!  This is the 3rd "flagging" post I've read in the past half hour.  Someone must have been going around Gather being flag happy today for sure!

Oh good Lord almighty, the "Gestapo" Gather Police are at it again........is this EVER, EVER going to stop?  Well, Bethann, they hit an all-time low by "flagging" an ORIGINAL recipe that was my own....boy, did I ever raise Hell about it, too!  Thankfully, I have found "other ways" to share recipes, but with a "chosen" few.....LOL!  Please don't let the stupid idiots win.........that's what they want....that's why I came back, rebelling, loud and clear........yes, many, many people (GOOD) have already left Gather.........this is so pathetic, it really is......I am so terribly sorry this happened to you.

I've taken down most of my articles and have no plans to post new ones because of the insane "goings on" that are happening. I've seen so many of these kinds of experiences that you describe. Perfectly good and interesting posts being arbitrarily "flagged".  Is this just mischief? Or are these the official "censors" enforcing a new Gather posting system? I don't understand what the offense could possibly be on any of the articles which have been targeted. If it weren't for my group I would have left this site long ago.

There's people like that everywhere. You won't get away from it.

I've dealt with idiots for a very long time.  I don't have to deal with them on a site I used to enjoy. 

I am sorry that you got flagged but alot of gather members are taking to heart when Tom said that unless commentary was added to quotes that they could flag the article. Since  mid last week Gather has changed the focus of what they want posted.  Please reconsider your decision of leaving just adjust the way you gather like alot of us are doing.

Thanks for your comment, but I have no desire to change the way I "gather."  I liked this site for what it was - now it doesn't even resemble what it used to be.

Perhaps someone is ticked off at Gather and taking it out on other Gatherers. I agree that the new point system hardly makes it worthwhile anymore to be on here, and with flag happy idiots out there, makes it even less so. I hope the best in whatever you decide to do.

Thank you, Dee.  There are some amazing people here (such as yourself), and I always enjoyed reading my friends articles and looking at their photos (even though I didn't always comment.)  It's a shame that Gather has turned into a place that nobody recognizes anymore, and that they don't care that such things are happening and people are leaving.

Awww.  Heck and heck some more.  This is really ridiculous and if I were a fool I could tell you who the flaggit twits are but won't lest I get kicked off of this site.  I know who one of the main ones is I guess IT thinks it is getting in good with the Gather Gods but paybacks are a mutha as they say here in Texas.

I wish you wouldn't let some peon take you away from us.  But if you must, good luck to you wherever you should go.

Thanks for your comment, but since it takes at least 15 minutes to go through all the groups that I'm in to post to, it's definitely not worth the hassle.

A few days ago, I thought about using the same term "gestapo" for those who go around and flag articles... thanks for writing this!

I had someone who kept flagging mine.  So I kept deleting and reposting it.

Gather seems to be encouraging this police behavior now... I don't get it either. I always felt there was room for everybody and liked the variety. 

Group owners never got any points for managing groups by the way. We used to do it because it was somewhat fun... not sure it is worth it anymore, but still like the people. *sigh*

How sad that so many Gatherers are so unhappy.  Did they really think we needed to be micromanaged?  Can't we just have the good ol' Gather back and use our delete buttons if we don't like what we see, or post as we think appropriate?

I would agree that there are some very immature people here on Gather, which happily most I'm no longer connected with.  I suspect it could be one of these very immature individuals who believe they are all knowing and attempt to tell others what they should say or think, or another thought I had is someone is trying to make a statement on this foolish Gather Gestapo idea.  I know I had two posts flagged but I'll have to say it didn't affect a single thing.  They were still two enjoyable posts, people still commented, and now I have a message that there was no reason either was flagged and whoever will be approached about what they did.

I still intend to stay and post my content AND have fun.  I'd like to see a few bad apples leave here but you can't always get what you want, or at least not right away. I'm still going to enjoy myself!  Don't let the ignorant win, they will have their day.

i think we ALL shoud notify gather tha this has got to stop! we all pretty much know the members who ar4e doing it...they have admitted taking pleasure in it in several of their comments!

Sorry to hear you are leaving - I hope you will reconsider.  There is always an uproar after any changes are made things should mellow back out soon.

I am glad you have not left as of yet.  I just saw where you commented on my one of my video posts.  I would not volunteer to be a part of the gang.  It is my feeling that if they don't like what is being posted, they need to offer training about what they do want and like instead of running around "offending" people about posts that were posted under the old system.  When changes come, people need to be notifed individually and in a nice way, not hey look at you, you jerk for posting this.......no wonder people have taken such offense at that.

There was a couple of post by Tom Gerace that offered "training and tips" in what they are wanting gather members to try to do.  I copied it, but have not gone over it real well yet.  Step 1 was find something that you love to do and he has several examples of this step. step 2 was where I know I lack strength:  Evaluate the appeal of your topic.  This is so Gather can grow throughout the internet and hopefully gain more of an audience for everyone to post to.  He talks about doing a Google Trends search to find out what topics people are searching the net to read about and then try and pick at least one to research and write about.  There is more to it, you might try and look up those posts.  I am all for any  kind of training, but I do not like offenses.

considering I just requested your firendship, I hate to see you go should that be your decision. Personally I think the people that go actively looking for things to flag lead pitiful lives in that they recieve satisfation from trying to make others unhappy. Dont give them that satisfaction!

I've seen the most innocuous photos and articles flagged and/or rated low. Some people just get their thrills by hurting others, and here, they can do it anonymously. Posting a quote sounds perfectly normal to me- quotes are often wonderful to read.

I know that there are people who plagiarize constantly, which is annoying to me, but I simply don't read their work. However, I wouldn't flag it, either. I'm not the world's policeman. Life is too short. I don't think you'd be winning book awards if you weren't capable of offering your own text when you feel like it. I had many articles and photos rated 1 by someone who, I suspect, didn't like my liberal political views. Did they think it would intimidate me? Well, it didn't, and I'd hate to see a real writer leave the site because you are being harassed. But, do what you need to for your own peace of mind.
