Cable, Dish, New TV, Converter Box-these are the choices we have been given now that the switch to digital TV has taken place. There is another choice, one the money-hungry companies behind this don't want you to think about, and that is doing without any of the above. That's right, just don't turn on the television. Despite the presidential proclamation to push back the switch date to June, the TV stations here in Northern Indiana went ahead and did it anyway, except for one. With the economy being so bad, TV was one of the few things you could still get for free-the cost being to watch the ads that take up more of the TV time than the shows themselves do these days. It is awful the way these companies want to sqeeze one more dime out of people who are working for low pay, or have lost their jobs. Eventually I will probably cave in and get access to TV again, but for now, every day that I go without, I feel like I am making a statement. There is one channel, ABC, that is still broadcasting in my area. I can still get the morning news on that channel. They may have a new viewer now even if I do succumb and pay the price for access to the other stations.
