Mostly because we don't have any water, but still. George Carlin was right, we should have signs for things like this. "No, waterboarding is not okay. Even if it's for the good of the Nation Formerly Known As Free. If we find out you're doing it, we will be pissed. If you do it, regardless of how many lives you save, you had better not let us find out. We're not above subjecting our own leaders to a war crimes tribunal, or barring that, outright revolution, if we think you're going too far."
Anyhow, yes, the water is still not functional (since the fuse connected to that system is still removed) and the plumber is due to come check the water pump today. Hopefully, he finds what's wrong, because if it's something else that's shorting out our electrical system, I can't imagine anyone will be in a good mood. (Funny thing about well-water systems... when the power goes out, you can't flush the toilet. Plus, you have to filter the water anyhow before you can drink it. Whatever happened to getting water from a reliable city system that was properly filtered and maintained instead of having to purchase gallons of spring water and expensive filters?)
Also, as a random note, there are currently 13,406 (non-private) groups on Gather, of which I am a member of somewhere under 1,200. Just in case you were wondering for some odd reason.
Furthermore, there are literally hundreds of video games in existence that I want to own, play, and complete, but haven't yet. It's frustrating, but not important to today's to-do list, which is:
Save This Book. Looks like we have a winner for this week's Save This Book - Angela A.! Congratulations, Angela! I'll be looking forward to receiving your shipping information soon so I can send it out with my normal sales!
Half.com. Yes, I sell books there. And apparently, I have to sell more. Equipped with the knowledge that I sell books, and desirous of more space, the family has ordered that various bookshelves and other book repositories within the house be cleared off in any way necessary so that they can store their books there instead of mine. Nevermind the fact that they don't really have many anyhow. Oy. So, I've got to go back and sort that out this week, which means much more books up for sale (including some textbooks and such, if I'm not mistaken.)
Promotional Work. We've got a few bands to work on (and at least one in the wings pending the arrival of payment), too -- mostly in setting up new site-based connection systems for them, and extending the networks they already have established. Hey, it's income, and it's much better than telemarketing. (For one thing, with most bands you at least can sample their wares without having to buy anything.) Plus, we also have a few layout redesigns to tinker with and such -- we earn our money. (And, yes, if you're in the market, we can be hired -- talk to Laura Cushing for more information.)
The Chain Game - Chain Game Classic. Word association in its simplest form - a delightful distraction while you ponder your next magnum opus.
Comment Speedway - Help These Articles. Where articles that haven't hit ten comments yet get their chance to shine and be featured.
Group Moderation. The ever-present necessity. I went through all of them yesterday, so hopefully I can just focus on the Big Four today.
Legend of the Green Leupak. I also need/want to do some work on LoGL this week - aside from the various plot-related additions, I also want/need to add more monsters and equipment.
So, a busy day ahead (and one without working toilets.) How's your day going?

I pinged you about your book sales. I did go through some of your Half.Com books. I am really interested in american constitutional (or british before the american revolution) and american history primarily up to about the early 1800's. So if you remember give me a ping if you get anything like that, would you?
I am always behind in moderating. I just don't know how the rest of you do it! I will try and put aside some time to help you with Comment Speedway.

Actually, I think I noticed a book that might be applicable while going through the 'things to add' pile. I have to check more carefully to see if it's relevant, though I'll let you know when I list it if it is indeed useful/relevant.
Thanks, guys. No water is just not fun.

As for the groups, if you go to the 'new groups' page and start flipping through the pages, you can see every public group on Gather (in the order they were created.)
On page 671, that totals to 13400 groups; then you just count the number on that page. When this was posted, it was 6 - now it's a little more. Nifty, hm?
'Course, it was a lot easier before Ice, when they just told you the number... but hey.
Also, Laura posted this: All Aboard the Crescent Line - Next Stop Poem Contest Submission! for a Gather contest - so check it out!
Glad to hear it is working better now with your water.
