I am sorry to hear about your father going through the guilt...but was nothing he could have done to stop it. He needs to let it go...the guilt it will eat you alive..
When I knew my brother it was the last time I was going to speak or see him again and I didnt tell anyone the guilt was eating away at me... I know my brother didnt want me to go through that....Nor does your Dad's brother cause it not his fault..It would have happened anyway if he did stop it....it still would have happened another time. Its has to do with how they feel inside....there is no blame and its no ones fault.
When I get up enough nerve to do another writing about it ....it will shed maybe some more light on the subject.
I ll have your father in my prayers
