(Note: This was written yesterday, but I had trouble publishing last night.)
After a long period of searching, we thought we found the perfect day care for my 15-month old daughter Kyleigh. We brought her there yesterday for one hour, and she had a great time participating.
Today I took her back there for another "preview session". I thought she would have fun like she did yesterday, but I was wrong. She was totally like a different person. She wouldn't let anyone else get close to her, she wouldn't interact with the kids in the classroom, and she didn't participate in any of the activities. When we put her in a swing outside in the play ground, she started crying. She finally passed out on my shoulders, so I took her home.
After we got home, she developed a fever (101.9 F). It could be because of the MMR shot she got during her 15-month checkup, or maybe it was too windy outside. She slept a few hours, and then just lay in bed weakly for another couple of hours. She finally cheered up a little bit when my husband suggested that I play her favorite Baby Einstein tape and let her watch it in bed.
I had thought that maybe the transition to the day care would be easy, but now I am not that optimistic any more. I think Kyleigh is totally depressed because grandma is gone (my mom's flight left at 7 AM this morning).
It's going to be a tough week next week when Kyleigh officially starts day care.

Changes in routine can be hard on toddlers especially when that involves someone they are close to not being around. Just give her some extra attention, love, hugs and kisses, and before you know it she'll be taking off the moment you set her down on the daycare floor. hehe.
Sometimes these transitions can be harder on mommy and daddy than child LOL
Will she staying at the daycare five days in a row with a weekend off? Friday might be a good night for an early bed time--for Mommy too! At least for the first couple of weeks, until everyone has developed the 'reflexes' for the new situation.
She is still having a fever (over 36 hours now). I think we might not make it to the day care next Monday if she doesn't get much better tomorrow. :(
