When my husband and I went to work on Monday afternoon in Flint, Michigan, we pulled into the work parking lot just as several police cars went racing by with lights flashing and sirens blaring.
We found out later where they went. A young man had robbed a neighborhood Rite-aid store with a gun. He ran from the store and fled on foot by way of neighborhood streets. When a dog chased the robber, he shot the dog. The man forced his way into a car driven by a woman from our small town of Davison and made her drop him off near a local elementary school that the students in our program at work attend. The man jumped into a trash container and attempted to change his clothes there (at the elementary school) before he ran again. He threw his loaded gun by the street somewhere along his path. The man ran until he got to a party store and then he went inside. Of course, the elementary school was put on lock down until police arrived at the party store and arrested the man. Three days later police are still searching for the loaded gun that the man throw away somewhere along a city street. Kids walk to school on these streets and police are afraid that a child could find this gun and accidently shoot someone with it. Or another criminal could find and use the gun. All of this happened in daylight on a sunny afternoon right near where we work and by the elementary school where we go often for various programs and activities. All this crime is getting to be quite scary. Flint has the third highest crime rate in the entire United States. Criminals are bold enough to rob places and hijack cars right in the middle of daytime in neighborhoods full of kids and close to elementary schools. I think that is disgusting. I hope police will find the robber's loaded gun before it falls into the wrong hands!

Funny Moore rants and raves about how his hometown is a great town, but of course he hasn't been there for over 14 years and probably lives in the upscale part of town. He never mentions anything about how bad the crime is (probably doesn't careless) and even if he does have knowledge of the crime rate, still won't do anything to help out.
That sounds like a very scary situation especially being right by a school. Glad to know none of the children were hurt and hope the woman and dog are alright after their ordeal. Hopefully, if someone finds the gun will bring it in the authorities and not use to endanger anyone else's life.
I am afraid to come back to the USA.
Sometimes, you have to think and wonder...what goes through people's minds?
these criminals just don't care who they hurt or
scare half to death...
God please keep the innocent ones safe from these types of people... Amen...
I lived in Davison for part of 6th grade in the late 60's. I had a very best friend there that I stayed in touch with for years as an adult. Back then, Flint seemed very far away - I - 69 hadn't been built quite yet.
:)
I recall many years ago when I was younger, someone robbed the corner store and when the police was chacing them, they threw the gun out on our street. Later that night the cops were walking up and down the street with flashlights and there spotlights. My parents talked to them and they had found the gun two house down, under there evergreen tree. Pretty scary!
