Reminds me of the Family Guy episode where Lois took up modeling - when she was in a bar, the models were playing their ribs like xylophones. Funny on a cartoon, very tragic in real life.

Excess in either direction can be undesirable. In this, there is no mystery. I've been too thin my whole life, and was unable to do anything to change that when I was young---I loved playing football almost every day that weather permitted, even playing during storms, in the mud, but never could put on enough weight to play on varsity teams--I consumed vast amounts of malted milkshakes using ice cream, whole cream, a raw egg, chocolate syrup, and so fourth, never gaining any pounds. My mother, who was a fashion model in the late 40s, the 50s and 60s, constantly assured me that I was very fortunate in that I would most likely never suffer heart problems which stem from overtaxing the muscle which is the heart with excessive weight---and at the age of 62, I must admit her prediction to be quite accurate, even in spite of the fact that I have smoked since 1953, beginning at the age of 8 years. I must admit that thin women are the ones who draw my attention, but these girls don't hold much appeal to me. I think they look dangerously ill, reminiscent of both victims of the holocaust and/or victims of the African famines, and pictures in medical journals, and are in serious need of medical assistance.

No wonder clothes don't fit me. I don't have any protruding bones. Those pictures are not only ugly, they are scary.

Whether these particular pictures were touched up or not, many fashion shows display disgustingly-thin women. Many companies and many ads push the RIDICULOUSLY-thin image. Nothing on earth is worth doing that to your body!

Bottomline there is no fake pics here and this is a disorder. Theses are what the fashion images in our world has become to. These are recent. This is REAL. This is SAD. I wanted to post it because it is another sick ass entity in this really nutso world.

Leigh - I just saw Dr. Phil today do another show on a woman weighing less than 70 pounds who looks exactly like the women in your photographs above. The truth of the matter is that some photos may be photoshopped but my dear, if I hadn't seen a woman like this today on the Dr. Phil show, I probably wouldn't have believed it myself. Further it to say that the woman on the show, could and did stand on her own two feet.

Also last year he had another woman just like this who is now up to 103 pounds up from 63 pounds and one could clearly see that she was lovely as she took care of her outward appearance by doing her hair and wearing makeup but she soon realized that she was a very sick woman, physically and psychologically.

Does ANYONE find these women attractive? They remind me of photos that came out of people in concentration camps.

Wow...I was afraid to say I had seen these before....glad somebody else said it.

There is a reason that heavy women were prized and adored in medieval times ... it meant that their family had enough money to provide them with plenty of food and, by extension, that would apply to them, too, as their husbands. Our bodies, while meant to be fit for foraging and hunting, were never meant to be this thin. It is truly sad that girls in this country are being taught that skinny women can be beautiful and attractive to the opposite sex.

If the Pictures are not doctored, the models should be. And by professionals who can put the women on a path to healthy eating. It is most alarming to me that other people are looking at and working with these women. They too should be held accountable.

These people do exist and are all around us, just open your eyes and see them. I seen the same Dr. Phil that Esther is speaking of, and this is a very real problem for many women across the world. This woman was so skinny on the show today, that it hurts to just sit and stay alive, so I dont think that they could really model-nor would they want to, because they truely think they are still fat.
that said, runway models, for stupid reasons, are made to be very thin. That just escallated eaing disorders for women to end up like this woman on Dr. Phil.

Yep two of the ladies were on Dr. Phill. This is a sad real problem and I placed so people can see that a weight problem is a weight problem. I complain a lot about my weight and I shut up after watching these poor souls life.

Here's another fact. My sister owns www.coolbluetalent.com Here in Las Vegas and I hold her auditions here every FRIDAY and have for 7 years. Every Friday we get a woman or girl coming in looking identical to these women. I have to tell them the only they will get in the industry being this ill is in Europe. That is why my article spoke of the photographer who took theses pics of these women in Europe. Now American mags have banned it som 9-10 years back but the industry abroad has not and most models still try to get into the international industry making them vulnerable for this illness. I think to come here and yell "Fakes" and all stupid stuff was just a plain waste of time because it is not. The pics are real the article was real and sorry JEFF i will not be writing an "I am sorry article I was wrong" (That was a funny kick thought) You really can vicious even when you dont know what your talking about uh? lol FUNNY

As I said before I see at least one of these same people with this illness every friday and the indusrty does promote it. Europe has not banned it as they have in the USA.

See that is the point. The pictures were sold to the internet some years ago and dragged through the mudd. They are in fact very real. And in a real problem in Europe til this day. I spoke to an agent at the office earlier today and he read the article and said...,.Amazing some one only sought to see if the pics were real when WE ALL KNOW IT IS A REAL PROBLEM AMD THIS IS NOT A JOKE. The facts were real. My research comes from my people who work for my family business and it happens to be MODELS. Since that what we do I pretty much had a handle on it. Like I said I was attacked because of an article I previously posted and did not feed into the negativity. This article was not posted saying Hey look at these real models. It was Hey look at this real PROBLEM

This was sent to me concerning you. Not me writing it I was emailed this today.

So this I am not the first person to get dissed by you at all. I thpught you very nice and I just wanted to better in writing the article the other day. hell I mispelled every other word!!! Now the article you attacked me on were photos we at Cool Blue have had over 4 years in our files. I was not posting the photos as an argument on wether or not they were photo shopped or anything I was posting them because the issue of this problem is large in us women. REALLLy it is! You took it and bashed and ran it through the ground and then got people emailing that i am writing fake articles and all kinds of stuff. You even had that Lera come on and accuse me of being a person who likes to be belittled... Come on that was going too far.. Way too far. Good Morning all it is 2.27.08 7:15am I am done with past stuff. I also would like to say I do not have to watch my back at all here on Gather. I am just a member who likes to post pos post and take videos and write. I have a lot of stuff flying around my head and just want to have a nice time when I am here. Some of the stuff I post all will not agree with and that is just the way the cookie crumbles. I will continue to post contraversial things and try to proof read most of them. I will watch what I abreviate and send my normal amount of "Let you Know" emails on my articles I think need to be read. I am off to the school then to the gym then to dance class I volunteered to teach 5 year olds!!! I am going to come down somewhere in the middle of this debate. Whether or not the pictures have been altered, four very real problems exist.

Anorexia
Obesity
Honesty in the media
How do we determine what is real

Make that five - I'm going to speak up for the naturally thin people in the world (since I was one of them for many years) who are ridiculed for being thin. My ribs showed until I was in my forties, and I ate more than any person I know. I was extremely active and had a fast metabolism. It was hurtful when people who couldn't control their own body sizes made untrue assumptions because my problem was the opposite of theirs.

When I smoked my ribs and hip bones were clearly visible. Now you need sophisticated diagnostic equipment to find them. I have a friend who looks skeletal. He eats huge amounts of food, particularly sweets. It happens to some people.

The weight thing is terrible. Our daughter took dance lessons from a teacher who was considered relatively humane. I think "relatively" was the operative word. I see too many woman whose knees and elbows are the largest parts of their legs and arms. They're victims.

I agree but to those nuts saying the photos are not real just because there on the net is just stupid the problem is real and that was the article was about. FU*&^ all that other shiznit.

I never knew models got THIS skinny... horrid photos. The people around these skeletal women need to stop making them feel like they are fine, and get them help.
