I like most of Kylee S's suggestions. My grandma's name is Amailia (not Amelia) Ah-mahl-ea, and she goes by Molly. The only drawback, is the mis-pronounciation and always spelling it. But, it is beautiful. Congrats! I had 2 boys!

I like family names...take a mother or grandmother from either side and combine the names...one for the first name and one for the middle name. make them a bit more modern if need be. I like history in names! :-)

I like a gender neutral name as I did with my last child, Jordan she is Jordan Johanna but would have been Jordan Jeremiah if she had been a boy.

The Johanna was my Great Grandmothers and Jeremiah was my father's first name.

Susan, My mother actually named my sister using both my Grandmothers middle names to preserve the family history. My sisters name is Michelle Lannie Louise. We call her Mickey for short. Michelle was my moms favorite name and Lannie is my father's mothers middle name, and Louise is my mothers middle name. If my mother were to have had boys his name would have been John Ralph Michale. John for my Fathers dad, Ralph for my mom's dad and Michael is my mothers favorite name. But she never did have that boy, She was actually prepared to saddle me with those boys names and she had none prepared so my grandmom ( Mothers mom) stepped in and said she had a name that had been waiting for many years. She then told my mom that her first love in there love letters from WWI had said that they would name there child for the first month of spring when they had fallen in love, that name was to be April. Unfortunately the real world has a way of changinging things. That first love of my grandmother died of the flu epidemic while serving our country, and she could not name her children with my grandpop with that special name, but here was her opportunity to have her love's name remembered. So I became April Dolores, Dolores is my mothers middle name. ( And I have the love letters) my second sister was also to be John Ralph Michael, but my Dads mom stepped in this time and named her after her family Patricia Collen ( A good Irish name, named for our ancestors across the pond in Ireland.

To me names are very important.


Ule, Paula's new husband was named after my grandfathers brother who carried the name Ulysses S Peters. ( Named after a great President) But he is not just Ulysses he is Ulysses Aaron Odin. Ulysses not only carries our family history with that first name but we choose Ulysses because my husband and myself love books and history , and of course Ulysses is a novel by James Joyce, not to mention Ulysses was the Greek king of Ithaca and the main hero in Homer's epic poem, the Odyssey. Aaron is also a biblical name. Aaron was one of two brothers who played a unique part in the history of the Hebrew people. He was the elder son (and second child) of Amram and Jochebed of the tribe of Levi. Moses, was the other son, and three years younger, and Miriam, their sister, was several years older. Aaron was the great-grandson of Levi and represented the priestly functions of his tribe, becoming the first High Priest of the Hebrews. While Moses was receiving his education at the Egyptian court and during his exile among the Midianites, Aaron and his sister remained with their kinsmen in the eastern border-land of Egypt. The meaning of the name Marian is Sea Of Bitterness ( My great grandmom called her lasst child this as her husband was across the sea here in America and she had the baby without his presence, eventually he earned enough money to bring his family to America)

Adaya is a very historic name which means the jewel of God

Lat year before I found out I was having a boy, I had Isobel Louise picked out. The middle name is a family tradition where all the first born daughters name their daughter (only if she is the first born child) Louise. I'm the first in 4 generations to have a first born son so I was unable to carry on the tradition.
