That is the title of a brand new article published by "Rob Port", at this link. The premises are seriously flawed in my opinion. The author believes that the "left" believes America is a racist country and that noone is concerned about race anymore. The impetus for his article is that Sen. Obama's narrow victory last night (and the recent Louisiana gubernatorial election) prove the flawed premises.
Please note that this article was not actually written by Rob Port, even tho it appears that way. Rob's blog is syndicated here on Gather, and he has other bloggers posting on his blog. A visit to his blog showed that it was written by someone nic'ed "Pilgrim". (Perhaps this is a reason for Gather not to feature syndicated blogs on the home page?)

And Ty is right. There are some racists in America, but calling America racist in general is pretty silly.
I think the author over states his point but I think he has one.
It is a distraction that he sees this as a left/right issue, although there is a "blame America first" fringe group on the left.
Yes there are still racists and often we find ourselves racially polarized, but that does not make us a racist society. The fact that Obama did so well in such a lily white state is something to celebrate.
P.S. Because we are still considering the issue of racism in the 21st century is just a sad commentary about our society.
