Whistlers get no respect. There was a time when they were featured soloists touring with big bands. Now whistlers get a bad rap for being too cheery as in that band of crucified thieves hanging Christ-like from crosses in the Monty Python film "Life of Brian."
Well, the gang from Monty Python join the soldiers from "Bridge Over the River Kwai," the seven dwarfs, and dozens of other depictions of whistlers throughout history in the film "Pucker Up."
The film, a documentary about the Annual International Whistling Convention in Lewisburg, North Carolina, is about much more -- it's the history of whistling.
The Netherlands's Geert Chatrou, captured in the world championship after a tense, rocky-like whistle off at the end of the film and the competition, joins us now in the studio along with "Pucker Up" co-director Kate Davis.
