Solomon Burke is one of few remaining regents from the era of classic soul.
Inducted into Cleveland's Rock and Roll Hall of Fame five years ago, the man known as "The King of Rock and Soul" charted R&B hits with songs later covered by the Rolling Stones, Tom Petty and The Blues Brothers.
Solomon Burke is so beloved that A-list musicians Bob Dylan, Elvis Costello, Tom Waits and others wrote songs specifically for Burke's "Don't Give Up on Me" CD.
