When Amal Graafstra opens his front door, he doesn't use a key; to turn on his computer, he just waves his hand.
Graafstra, who runs a mobile messaging company in Bellingham, Washington, is one of just a few hundred people in the world who have had radio-frequency identification tags (RFIDs), implanted under their skin. In this case, they're between the thumb and index finger of each hand.
Amal Graafstra writes about his experience in IEEE Spectrum, a magazine for electrical engineers.
