Back To The Magic Garden

While on my recent trip to Boston I had the opportunity to visit a wonderful garden in Winchester. It is a private home that has been opened to the public. I posted a few photos at the time and promised more to come. Finally, I've found the time to sort through the photos so please come join me for a quiet stroll through this magical place.

Unfortunately I didn't have as much time as I'd have liked to explored this place but hopefully I will have the opportunity on a future visit to stop by again.

Delightful charming place. I'm glad you treated us with a visit. Love the bird sculptures, and the tree sculpture against the wood fence.
A garden full of surprises awaiting to be discovered is a truly wonderful garden ... and I enjoyed this visit.

But of course you knew I would find much to appreciate in this hidden garden...do they not have a blue heron in flight sculpture bringing messages from beyond. I liked the canoe as well as the resting Buddha. Gardens such as this lend themselves so well to contemplation.

Yes, they are the sort of places where time ceases for a short while - I could have stayed for hours.

Whimsical, as well as lovely. I can see why you were so taken with it. Does it have a name? My daughter and I have talked about wanting to revisit Boston next year.

Verie - it's the Cotton-Arbo Retum - I don't think it is listed anywhere though as it is a private garden that you have to know about in order to find it. When are you thinking of being in Boston?

We had thought of going to Boston for a long weekend this past spring, but a family reunion used up the time and economic uncertainties added to our decision to postpone it since Boston is pricey. Instead we went to Springfield.

We have a trip planned to Tunisia in October so it won't be this year. Perhaps next spring or summer depending on what other travel plans we make. While in Springfield, we talked about going to Southern Illinois next year which we have never visited and is supposed to be beautiful. We are limited somewhat by my daughter's job. She can't plan on going at the end of a quarter.

Our family went to Boston in July 1969, and I've been to Boston twice for business, once in the 1980s, and once in the 1990s.

I've looked at these several times, and my favorite is the "ark." The birdhouse is something I'd love to have in my yard.

Beauty! Love the name, Arbo Retum, and the thoughtful invitation from Mindy Arbo.

The heron sculpture is my fave. So much to see!
