On the Intimacy of Flowers

I was handed inspiration today to go outside after work and start to photograph the iris that are just starting to come into bloom. The gray of the day lifted for a short while and gave me some lovely light with which to work. Here are a few of the shots I managed to capture.

I am celebrating your inspiration and I treasure every photo! The humble dandelion with it's fluff extending past the edge of the iris leaf is striking, but then they all are.

The photos are wonderful. I also like the title. Intimacy plays two ways here. The viewer gets a close (intimate) look at the flowers. But also, flowers carry the parts of the plant that enable it to sexually reproduce.

Thank you everyone. I'm afraid that the rain we are currently getting is going to harm our crop of iris this year so I'm very pleased to have gotten out there with my camera yesterday.
