It was fun to stroll through the small town of Dieburg, Germany and reminisce a little.
It's where I grew up and I enjoyed showing Richard around.
I've always appreciated architecture, so I took pics of a few of the medieval houses - these are all between 1380 and 1560, the church you see was built in 1240.

Left - the town crest. Right - The Jester, a fountain dedicated by the mardi-gras (Fastnacht) group to the city. Dieburg has celebrated the mardi-gras festival for several hundred years - it's in my blood.

Left and right - city hall. Center - colorful carved wooden decor. They remind me of the carvings of Bali, but these are architectural details on a house built in 1300-1400s.

We also took a few days to visit Bavaria and hike in the Alps.

THANKS FOR LOOKING!

Of course the city hall building is pretty new - I think the original building, the one that has the clock tower was built around 1900 and then they added on to it in the late 1960s.
I think they did a nice job with the addition and I've always liked the effervescence of that simple fountain they put in in 1965.
We kids used to put in color - so the water would be red or yellow or bright blue.:)
And the alps...I'm just going to be singing tunes from the Sound of Music today. Must go back and look at the pictures more closely.
