Bonsai ~ A Photo Essay!

Today I took another trip to my favorite Botanical Gardens, Selby. I took my mom and my son. They were having their third annual asian cultural festival.

They had a beautiful bonsai display. Everything on display was also for sale. They also had a bonsai artist doing demonstations on how to create a bonsai.

Along with the baonsai displays, there were also many others, but those will be saved for future photo essays! Enjoy the bonsai!

This last photo is a closeup of the bottom of one of the bonsai, inside the pot...

I took all these photos myself with my fugi finepix s5100 camera.

They are all very beautiful pictures. I remember seeing an exhibit similar at the Minnesota Como Zoo a few years ago & enjoyed it as well

I've never been too fond of the bonsai treatment, but these are gorgeous! I need to expand my mind and interests a bit. Great captures, Holly!
My favorite? I'm not sure if it's an azalea or a bougainvillea, but it is magnificent!

If I could manage to keep green things alive, I'd love to have a bonsai. Then again, I have no idea if I'm in the right climate "zone" for one, either. See - very hard for me to keep green things alive! Just got an herb garden to start from seeds. Let's see how that goes.
