Milo, our bipolar cat, can be very insistent when he wants attention. I say this not to cast aspersions on those suffering from bipolar disorder, as my daughter, diagnosed at age 15 with the same ailment, agrees that Milo is assuredly a bipolar feline.

Born of a neighbor's white mama cat and a mysterious stranger, Milo is long, sinuous, and sports one blue and one yellow eye. He pounces on all of our other cats (we now have only two others since Jasmine died last week. Sigh.) and terrorizes them at every turn. He rolls around with Balto, our Cavapoo, play fighting in the living room.

As far as humans go, you never know if Milo will smother you in love, or bite you as you pass his chair. It's extreme, on either end.
A few days ago, he insisted on joining me on my garden photo tour, fortunately in a very loving mood. He followed every step, wrapping around my legs and "kissing" me at every opportunity. I took as many shots of him as I did the flowers. ;o)

We started at the hibiscus. It was a dark morning, rain was pending, so the light was a bit dim for photographs, but I tend to like the rich colors that come from no sunlight glaring on the petals!

Northern Lights Azaleas. I don't have much luck with azaleas, but these two bushes have thrived. They have an amazing scent, too. Sweet and light, very fragrant. I didn't know azaleas had scents, and was shocked yesterday to discover by accident, after ten years of passing this lovely plant, that it was fragrant! LOL!

We continued around the corner to check out the rhododendrums, which were just beginning to open.

Tristan, our senior Himalayan, also joined the foray in to the gardens. Allouette wouldn't sit still for a portrait, so you'll have to imagine a tortoiseshell Himalayan hybrid - just like an orange and black long haired beauty! Wait. Let me find an older photo of her. Here she is! They both followed along with Milo after a while.

She was shy and hid a little to protect herself from Milo, who often pounces on her.

Herbs, cool coleus colors, and eucalyptus! We have six huge containers full of herbs and I can't tell you how lovely it is to be able to hop out onto the porch to pick handfuls of herbs, instead of trekking way out to the far garden to get them! I know this is not a novel idea, but for years I had "in the garden" herb gardens, and never made the move to porch containers.

This is not a banner year for the Siberian wallflowers, they are rather small in the off years, but the little angel seems to be enjoying them! Isn't that a great color, though?

I couldn't resist this shot. Here he is again, wrapping around my legs. Forgive my dirty feet, I know they aren't as cute as Gordie's!!! LOL.

This little ant guards my cutting garden. I plant it just for cut flowers - with about twenty packs of annuals strewn into the front of the garden.

Still keeping guard. You'll see the tree peonies (behind) in the next photo essay.

Milo will keep his eye on the gardens for me while I'm at work.
Thanks for stopping by and talk to you soon. I have two more essays of photos coming. One will feature iris and tree peonies, the other will be a "how to" for easy vegetable gardening! Stay tuned and have a lovely day.

Great new group by the way - the banner is excellent!
Your cats and your flowes were wonderful!
What a great combination!
Your milo looks like my china in the picture with me.
Sorry to hear about the loss of your cat Jasmine.
Looking forward to your next trip to the garden.
...........and can't remember now who mentioned it above, but I too LOVE the banner in your new group -
PS - hibiscus blooming up there so early in the year????
Hey, Sarah. ;o)
Michelle - don't you worry. I'll give you more gardening advice than you can stand! You'll be holding out your hands and saying, "STOP!" LOL. d
Hi, Flit! Glad you liked the new banner - I thought it was fitting to show my grandson's feet and him planting, since he embodies the spirit of passionate gardening that I embrace!
Bob, isn't it fun to have them trailing around the garden? My mother-in-law gets a big kick out of watching the (now) three of them following me and the boys all over. (she lives with us, a great lady!)
Thanks, Renda!
Hi, Lisa. Why, thank you very much!
Hi, Faith! China and Milo DO look alike!! LOL!
Thanks, Amy. If you haven't had a chance to check 'em out, I've done quite a few of these with flowers or hikes this spring - would love to have you visit if you've time!
Peter, thanks for stopping by. I loved your iris photo essay. ;o)
Thanks for the kind words, Layla. Jasmine was my favorite - she slept with me every night. I wrote a piece about her last year here if you'd like to see it.
Thank you, Kris! Love your cat icon!
Aww, Deb. It's so good to have you back! (I know I've said this three times, but it IS good!) Thanks, Kiddo!
Bob - back again - you are great. You think I should enter, huh? I guess Tristan does look pretty royal here! LOL.
Hi, Bebe! Thank you!
Hey, Amelie. I'm a cat and dog and horse person, but it's great to have friends who love any animals, you know? I don't think I could be pals with someone who didn't like animals!!! I can't imagine that!
Thanks, Beth. I liked that photo, too. He seemed to be posing just for me that morning, I was thrilled! Wow, a whole hillside of those azaleas would be dramatic, wouldn't it?! smile.
Hi, Jenn! The tour guides say, "Thank you!"
Hi, Sonia! I was wondering if anyone would question that hibiscus blossom. Heh heh. I bought four giant bushes of red hibiscus at Walmart (LOL) and planted them alongside a new brick walkway that I laid myself. I was so proud, I'm not a handy man, but it was EASY! These are not winter hardy, but they were so inexpensive that I figured I could enjoy them even more than a hanging basket or two. The flowers are exquisite! Thanks about the banner!
Hey, Bobbi! Your kitties sound like good doobies!! ;o)
Thanks so much, Marian! Have a great evening.
.
Thanks for taking us along on this little adventure through your garden. :o) I'll be feauturing this article in our new group *Flowers*.

You are surrounded by beauty and live with beauty. Your soul must rejoice having all these flowers and the beautiful cats with shinning eyes watching you wherever you go. The little ant is there with its huge eye....you do work a lot to have such a garden. I have only pots on my veranda, but I talk to my flowers and feel them in depth.
thank you so much for this wonderful tour and am so happy to have discovered you.
I wish you will post these beauties in " our soul journey" group as well. You will make me so proud!
Love and light
KYRA!!!! I haven't talked to you in days! How are you, dear? Thanks so much for coming over to say Hey. I'm sorry I've been so remiss in visiting, I have just two more batches of photos to process and post, then I'll be catching up with all your neat photos. Thanks for featuring this on your group! Together, you and I and our garden loving friends will make the whole Gather site a fragrant place, won't we, with our passion for flowers? LOL!
Marinela, (such a pretty name!), you are very sweet. I'd be happy to post over there! I'll come find Our Soul Journey right now. And you're right - I am so blessed, this is a wonderful time of life. If you have time, come see my other blessings, my grandsons. I have a few photo essays featuring them on my home page at aplazar.gather.com. You know, life is what you make of it, and ours has been full of very tough challenges, especially with my wife's illness. But we always try to be greatful for what we have, not upset over what we've lost, and that really works. Another blessing is my writing - it's amazing therapy. Couple that with the grandsons, photography, and the gardens, (oh, and cooking! Yeah!), and I am in Heaven. ;o)
But your cats are just gorgeous. As beautiful as your flowers... I adore Tristan. He's such a big furry pillow. :-)
Hi, RLB! Thanks for this information. I had no idea that white cats were prone to this! But it makes sense, their skin is less protected, I guess, or perhaps more sensitive to start with? Great idea of the bonnet - I'd love to see Milo in one of those! ;o)
I am so sorry for your loss of Jasmine
pictures, or at least that's what my two Torties tell me. Looking forward to more
of your work.
Marianne, you are so sweet. Thank you so much for coming by and commenting!
thank you so much for the moment(s) of zen....
Lea, it's my pleasure, I'm glad you could get "outside" for a while! And someday, you'll have your own gardens, and will return the favor, I'm sure! ;o)
Hi, Bob! That's a perfect tale for her to be reading. Love it. ;o)
Hi, Tammy. Neat! Thanks for stopping by. ;o)
Thanks, Karen! Hope you are enjoying your weekend!
Thank you, Lisa! ;o)
Hi, Wendy. Wow, thanks!!!
Regards,
Doyle I <~~~~~
That Tristen had me in gales of laughter - he looks cross.
Aww, Carolion, I'm so glad it brought back good memories!!
Hey, Marci! We have three acres, but I feel like I'm running out of places to put things after 20 years of filling up every space, every border, making new perennial gardens, using up my old horse paddock, etc. But I'm really grateful for what I have, and thank God every day for the ability to be outside working on weekends and evenings, for the company of my family, including my sweet grandsons (and animals!), and just for being able to stand and breathe. It's a real gift!
Laurun, you are most welcome! Come again. ;o)
Thanks, Cindy! I'm glad you stopped by. ;o)
Hi, Tina! They look really green in this shot, don't they? She's a sweetie pie.
Chris, my cats are all very well fed, so they just lie around and watch the birds. I think they're too lazy to actually go after them! Especially the Himmies or half Himmies - they are definately NOT hunters!! LOL.
Hi, Katrina! How are you? I hope your computer woes are past and that you're all set with a backup system now? We missed you! Tristan does look cross, but he's a lamb. (I wrote lamp first. That doesn't work!! LOL!)
Thanks so much, Peter. I'm honored to be up there! Milo, Tristan, and Allouette quite proud. ;o)
I love the flowers and just the idea of taking a stroll in the garden with the cat sounds so peaceful!
Jennifer, I'm so pleased that you're going to read Double Forte! Please email me when you're done at aaron.lazar @ yahoo.com (without the spaces) and tell me what you thought! I love to hear from my readers and value all feedback. ;o)
Thanks so much, Spartan. And might I say, that is a wonderful group that all serious photographers should join! Actually, there was a glitch in the scheduling, and the piece didn't go up last night as planned. But they're going to post it this weekend, so it's not a biggie!
Thanks, MK! I'd never heard that, but it sure does seem true in this case, doesn't it? I love your icon, MK. What a beautiful horse!!!
My two feline garden "helpers" Lexie and Dyson appreciate your article too ;)
NB 0- you are welcome. Love your icon!
Rach - say Hi to Lexie and Dyson from Milo and the gang. ;o) Thanks for your nice comment!
I would like to say sorry for taking a while to get to your article. I have been away from gather for a while and I am finally getting to the 3000 plus emails I have awaiting me on here to go through. so I am starting from the most recent received to the first I ever received.... So now I am finally able to read your piece. Thank you for sending me the link to this article.
Now second thing:
I loved this piece,,, and I thought what was funnier is the first line about the cat being bipolar and I am watching a show talking about a woman who was as well bipolar... Just shows you ironic situations... Okay ramblking again...I loved all the photos you shared with us in this article it was lovely piece to read. Thank you for sharing it.
I found your essay while in the middle of writing my first article - it's in draft and all of a sudden I noticed other garden articles which popped up - so I had to peek:)
I'm glad I did - I loved all your flowers and who can resist a kitty?
